Part-Time Assistant Age Group Swim Coach (Ages 8–12)

About the Role
We’re seeking a motivated coach to join our staff and work closely with the Head Coach to deliver a high-quality training experience for swimmers ages 8–12. Our team is part of an engaged community, and we look forward to welcoming someone new to our established and thriving team. You’ll lead practices, help plan seasonal training, and support athlete development in and out of the water.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct age-appropriate swim practices (ages 8-12) in alignment with the Head Coach’s philosophy and seasonal training plan.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, swimmers, and other coaching staff via email, phone, and in person.
  • Provide technical instruction in all four competitive strokes, starts, turns, and finishes.
  • Prepare and submit meet entries; coach athletes at assigned meets (in-town and occasional travel).
  • Participate in team meetings, clinics, and events; help foster a positive, safe, and inclusive team culture.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of successful experience as an Age Group Coach or equivalent youth coaching role.
  • Current USA Swimming Coach Membership including:
    • CPR & Safety Training for Swim Coaches (STSC)
    • Background Check
    • SafeSport / Athlete Protection Training
  • Strong communication, organization, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours: weekday evenings during the school year, occasional weekday mornings in summer, weekends for meets.
  • Reliable transportation to all training facilities (JCC Squirrel Hill, Allderdice HS, Henry Kaufmann Pool in Monroeville)

Assistant Swim Coach

Our vision is to empower young people to be champions in and out of the water for a lifetime.

Shaler Area Swim Club (SASC) is seeking a part-time Assistant Swim Coach to compliment our year-round competitive swim staff. We are an AMS and USA Swimming affiliated team. We offer a competitive pay rate, paid training and certification fees, and flexibility as well as a great team of swimmers, families, and parent board!

Job Summary:

  • Directly coach with the guidance from our head coaching staff at least one swim level, ability to support other levels and group coverage as needed 

  • Write/co-write practice plans as necessary; Lead practices following provided practice plans

  • Attends swim meets as determined by Head Swim Coach and Board; Assists in supervising athletes at meets

  • Acknowledge Club Handbook and Policies; Enforce discipline policies for swimmers

  • Establishes an environment that fosters positive team attitude while teaching self-discipline, sportsmanship, responsibility, and respect

  • Demonstrates mature judgment, reliability, availability, and ethical behavior including punctuality, confidentiality, positive and constructive feedback, and the ability to function in a multi-task environment

  • Is a positive role model, maintaining high ethical and moral standards, and adhering to AMS and USA Swimming Coach’s Code of Conduct

Job Qualifications:

  • Experience as a competitive swimmer at the High School/Collegiate level is strongly preferred.

  • Experience as an Assistant Swim Coach, Swim Instructor or Swim Aide is required.

  • Experience working with young children through teenage years in an instructive capacity is required.

  • USA Swimming Coach certification is required. Lifeguard and CPR Certification is required. This can be obtained or renewed if needed after hire and any new certification fees are covered by the swim club.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Ability to coach 5:30-7:30 pm during the months of September through March and in the mornings 8-10:30am during the months of June, July and August. Approx.10-15 hours per week (practice and meets), flexible on days/times.

  • Flexibility to attend local swim meets on the weekends to help support our head coaching staff.

FOX CHAPEL - Assistant Coaches
 
The Fox Chapel Killer Whales swim club is looking for energetic and reliable assistant coaches to join
our team. We currently have a few part-time openings and are looking for people who enjoy working
with kids, are passionate about swimming, and want to help our athletes grow both in and out of the
pool.
Open Positions
Assistant Coach – Bronze & Silver Groups
These groups focus on foundational stroke technique and basic racing skills. Practices typically run
between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM, depending on the day and group schedule.
Assistant Coach – Senior Group
This group includes more experienced swimmers and emphasizes advanced training and competitive
performance. Practices are held Monday through Friday from 2:45 PM to 4:45 PM.
What We’re Looking For
 Someone who enjoys working with children and helping them build confidence and skill in the
water
 A coach who is motivated, dependable, and committed to the development of our program
 Strong communication and organizational skills
 A positive attitude and the ability to work well with other coaches and families — being a team
player is key
Prior coaching experience is helpful but not required. We’re happy to train the right person who’s
eager to learn and grow with us.

Location: Elizabeth Forward Swim Club (EFSC)
Start Date: September 1, 2025

Elizabeth Forward Swim Club is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Assistant Age Group Swim Coach to join our team. This is a great opportunity to work with young swimmers (ages 5–18), help foster their growth, and be a part of a positive, team-oriented atmosphere.

EFSC is a competitive swim team affiliated with USA Swimming and Chestnut Ridge Aquatics.

 


 

Position Details

  • Title: Assistant Age Group Swim Coach

  • Primary Groups: Minnows and Dolphins (ages 5–11)

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:30–7:30 PM (days/times may vary)

  • Compensation: Based on experience

 


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement age-appropriate workouts and drills.

  • Provide technical feedback and instruction to swimmers.

  • Support the Head Coach and overall team goals.

  • Step in to assist or lead other practice groups as needed.

  • Attend swim meets and AMS (Allegheny Mountain Swimming) competitions as assigned.

Job Description
Under the direction and guidance of the Head Coach, this role will lead the age group
program (Bronze, Silver, or Gold). This is a leadership position where you will lead and
train the coaching staff in your group as well as coach swimmers.
Head Age Group Coach Responsibilities:
• Model and celebrate NHA values and behaviors
• Have passion for coaching and working with athletes
• Be exceptional in the application of positive, consistent, and effective motivation
strategies when working with swimmers, parents, and coaching staff in relation to
all aspects of the program.
• Develop and execute workouts with daily, weekly, monthly, and season goals
and objectives in mind, striving to help athletes hit targets by providing a training
program designed to help meet those needs.
• Foster team spirit by exhibiting and maintaining a positive attitude and actively
planning and participating in team events, including meets, celebrations, and
fundraising activities.
• Demonstrate a cooperative, prompt, and respectful communication style with
swimmers, parents, and staff.
• Complete entries for athletes prior to deadlines
• Create challenging and engaging workouts for daily practice sessions
• Maintain group attendance via On-Deck
• Be an energetic, compassionate teacher and a strong motivator capable of
molding successful swimmers in and out of the water.
• Be willing and available to assist with setup and tear-down for home meets.
• Respond promptly and professionally to parent communications.
• Conduct team clinics and tryouts to ensure appropriate group placement for new
athletes.
Staff Expectations:
• Staff will be present for 90% of all practices each month.
• Coaches are expected to assist with meets as indicated on the schedule on the
team website.
• Staff will be on deck for at least ten meet sessions for the short course season
and at least five sessions during the long course season.
• Maintain compliance with USA Swimming coaching standards.
• Timesheets completed no later than the 3rd of the following month.

Assistant Swim Coach (Part-Time)

Jewish Community Center Sailfish Swim Team – Pittsburgh, PA

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Head Coach to support and promote the philosophy and training plan for participation and competition of all swimmers in assigned groups. (Ages 8-12)
  • Communicate effectively with parents, swimmers, and other coaches (email, phone, face to face).
