Junior Olympic Recap

5 cyclones walked onto pool deck Sailfish Splash Waterpark in Stuart, Florida this past weekend, ready to give their all at the 4-day long Junior Olympic swim meet. And so they did. From Thursdays to Sunday, our swimmers experienced some of the best races of their lives. Personal best times were appearing every day and among everyone. Some swimmers had the opportunity to represent cyclones at finals, bringing 24 total points to our team.

Kaiemi Grossi dropped 1.54 seconds in his 50 backstroke, bringing his placement from 30th to 21st in the event.

Gabriel Soto swam 50 and 100 butterfly at the meet; with a beautiful (.02) second drop in his 100 fly.

Aubrey Moen swam races all three days: 50 free, 50 fly, 100 free, 50 back, and 200 free. Even with 5 races, she gave her all in each. The highlight, was her 100 free. Aubrey dropped 0.84 seconds and brought her place from 32nd to 30th.

Carley Kaplan swam 6 races and represented cyclones in finals for all 6 events 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and 400 freestyle. Carley was making best times left and right. Originally not seeded for finals in any race, Carley’s hard work was evident in her numerous time improvements. She brought home 11 points for cyclones and placed 17th overall.

And last, but not least, Guy Soto. 9 year old Guy swam 5 races at Junior Olympics: 50 free, 50 fly, 100 free, 50 back, and 200 free. Swimming in finals and achieving personal best times for every race allowed Guy to collect 13 points. He placed (12th) overall.
