Jill Ankney Head Coach

Jill Ankney has been the head coach for the Cyclones since the team was formed.  As a former competitive swimmer, she brings an extensive knowledge of the sport to the Cyclones, which she uses to instill correct form and technique in all of her swimmers.  Jill truly believes that "Swimming is for Life".  Her passion for the sport of swimming carries into every aspect of the sport.  It is her hope that swimmers will find their niche in the sport and continue swimming for a lifetime. Jill hopes she can share her experience and knowledge to develop swimmers of every age and ability.

Jill is certified in American Red Cross First Aid & CPR, American Red Cross Life guarding, American Red Cross Certified Instructor for First Aid, CPR & Life guarding. Coach Jill is ASCA (American Swimming Coaches Association) Level 3 Certified. 

Abby Wheeler Assistant Coach

Abby Wheeler began her journey with the Cyclones as a former swimmer for our team, from here she was inspired to carry her swimming journey further by guiding the future generation of Cyclones swimmers. Abby believes through swimming, Cyclones swimmers can learn skills that can be used in and out of the pool such as hard work, team work, and dedication. It is Abby’s goal that through her own expertise, trainings, and instructions that swimmers find themselves reaching to be the best athlete possible, on and off the pool deck and finding a passion for the sport that lasts a lifetime. 

 

Abby is certified in American Red Cross First Aid & CPR, American Red Cross Lifeguarding, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, and certified as a USA Swimming Coach

Colby Sikes Assistant Coach

Colby Sikes began his journey from a young age, born to a swimming instructor he loved the water from a young age. In 2020 he would receive his Lifeguarding certification followed by his WSI and would peruse becoming a coach and a member of the Cyclones family.

American Red Cross certifications for: First Aid & CPR, Lifeguard, WSI, Lifeguard Instructor, First Aid & CPR Instructor, and USA Swimming Coaching certification.

Jeyra Mendez Assistant Coach
Jeyra Mendez has been a part of the Cooper City Cyclones family since childhood as a competitive swimmer. Today, she coaches new and veteran swimmers with her knowledge of technique and training. She values good sportsmanship, commitment, passion, and most importantly, the joy and satisfaction that comes from swimming. Jeyra aspires to encourage each athlete to not only value these as well but to reach their full potential as swimmers and individuals. 

Jeyra’s certifications include: American Red Cross First Aid & CPR, American Red Cross Lifeguarding, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, and certified as a USA Swimming Coach.
Glauco Frizzera Assistant Coach

Coach G encourages and energizes swimmers to reach their individual goals and excel in their swimming journey, guiding athletes of varying skill levels from collegiate to national levels.
