The Athlete

  • Respect Officials: Honor the decisions of referees and officials without complaint or negative gestures.

  • Win with Humility, Lose with Grace: Celebrate victories modestly, accept losses without excuses, and never give up.

  • Conduct: Uphold high standards of personal behavior, embodying integrity and sportsmanship.

  • Facilities: Show respect for the facilities of host schools, leaving them as you found them.

  • Pride and Privilege: Remember, representing Fletcher Swim & Dive is both an honor and a privilege.

The Coach

  • Respect and Inspire: Treat all athletes and opponents with respect, inspiring a love for swimming and diving and a commitment to fair competition.

  • Role Model: Set a positive example for athletes to emulate, in and out of the water.

  • Discipline and Sportsmanship: Address unsportsmanlike behavior firmly and promote a culture of respect.

  • Judgment: Respect the expertise of officials and their interpretations of the rules.

  • Educator Role: Recognize the role as a mentor, using the pool as a platform for teaching life skills.

The Parent/Guardian 

  • Represent the School: Understand that as spectators, you represent Fletcher Swim & Dive. Practice exemplary sportsmanship at all times.

  • Appreciation for Skill: Acknowledge and applaud exceptional performances, regardless of which team achieves them.

  • Supportive Environment: Show empathy for injured athletes, cheer positive performances, and maintain a respectful atmosphere free of negative distractions and language.

  • Respect for All: Treat competitors and officials with respect and honor their contributions to the event.

  • Trust in Leadership: Have faith in the coach's strategies and refrain from critiquing their decisions during competitions.

  • Property and Authority: Respect the property of others and the authority of those managing the event.

  • Graceful in All Outcomes: Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat, supporting athletes in all circumstances.

Student Participation

Participation in Fletcher Swim & Dive is both a privilege and a responsibility that requires commitment to the team and adherence to these values. While athletics are not a graduation requirement, they offer significant opportunities for personal growth and teamwork. Students are encouraged to explore multiple sports throughout their school career but are not permitted to participate in more than one sport per season.
