These classes are 2-week blocks, 5 days a week, of 15-minute one-on-one instruction for swimmers 16 months to 3 years of age. Two sessions back to back are recommended for best results.
- Infants and preschoolers will learn appropriate swimming postures to allow them to swim face down in the water, rotate onto their back to a floating position that enables them to rest and breathe, then return to a face-down swimming posture. This sequence of swim-float-swim can be continued into the learn-to-swim program. This important skill will prepare your child should he/she accidentally fall into the water.
- Classes begin late April and early May, and are run Monday- Friday between 8:00 am-10:00 am on 20-minute intervals.
- The cost of one 2-week session is $250.00. To join our interest list and to start enrollment, email [email protected]
- (These lessons are limited to these months and these ages due to weather and pool temperatures.)
- all lessons on-site at the NTC in Clermont
DOUBLE DIAPER POLICY
Swim America requires all children under 3 ½ years to follow the diaper policy. For ages 16 months to 3 years, children MUST wear a “double diaper,” a disposable swim diaper, AND a reusable swim diaper. For ages 3 to 3 ½ years, children may wear the approved reusable swim diaper without the disposable.
What is a Swim Diaper?
Disposable Swim Diaper - A light padded pull-up diaper made specifically for swimming. Common name brands are Little Swimmers and Splashers. These diapers are for one-time use and can be purchased in the diaper aisle of many brand convenience stores.
Reusable Swim Diaper - A machine washable, elastic waist cloth diaper. A Swim America approved reusable swim diaper must have elastic banded leg holes and an elastic waist. The diaper MUST be fitted flush to the child's skin to avoid the risk of water contamination.
Double Diaper - Use a disposable SWIM diaper and a reusable SWIM diaper. The disposable Swim diaper goes on the child first. The reusable Swim diaper goes on completely over the other. Tuck the disposable edges into the reusable diaper with the elastic waist and leg fitted to the skin. This will avoid contamination up through the back or leg openings of the disposable SWIM diaper.
Why does Swim America strictly enforce the Double Diaper Policy?
If a fecal accident occurs in the pool, SLAC MUST immediately evacuate and cancel classes until the pool is properly sanitized and safe from contamination. This may take 1 hour to 24 hours, depending on the severity per the Department of Health. The double diaper gives the most protection against accidents in the pool.
What if my child is potty trained? Most accidents happen to students 3 to 3 ½ years. Only a reusable diaper is required at this age. Our priority is the health and safety of all students.
