Fees for Swimmers

Is there an annual registration fee?

Yes, all families are responsible for an annual team registration fee upon enrollment and every year thereafter upon renewal (each August). This fee is $100 per year per family.

What is the USA Swimming Registration Fee?

All swimmers must be registered with USA Swimming. This annual registration fee is due after 9-1-25 for new membership and upon renewal directly in your USA Swimming Membership account. The current cost for this membership is $97 per year per swimmer.

The USA Swimming Membership allows the swimmers to participate in swim meets throughout the season and covers the swimmers insurance.

Practice and the NTC Pool

What do parents do at the practices?

Parents are welcome to watch practice from outside the fences on the south side of the pool. We do ask that parents approach the coaches with questions either BEFORE or AFTER practice. During the practices the coaches will be focused completely on the swimmers and will not be able to answer questions.

When should the swimmers be on the pool deck?

Swimmers should ONLY be on pool deck during the time designated for their respective practice group. SLAC Lightning swimmers must enter through the South Gate of the pool deck. All swimmers must show their pass to the lifeguard to enter.

Can the swimmers borrow equipment?

Yes, swimmers can borrow and use team equipment if they take care of the equipment. All swimmers must be responsible for care of team equipment – this includes returning any borrowed kickboard, pull buoys, or other SLAC training equipment. Please make sure to pack a towel for your swimmer before practice. SLAC Lightning team members are not allowed to use the NTC Towels.

Is my swimmer ready to move up to a different group?

Moving up groups is a coach decision and can often take many months/years to happen. Swimming groups are typically not age related and depend on teh swimmer's practice effort and ability, stroke technique, and showing they are ready to be challenged in a harder group.

Swim Meets

Is my swimmer ready for swim meets?

If you ever have questions about your swimmer being ready for a meet, you can email your swimmers coach to address those questions and concerns. SLAC is set up to where if you are on the team you ARE ready to race! Your swimmers first swim meet can have ups and downs but it is a great way to see the hard work pay off and have fun with their teammates.

What do I bring to swim meets?

Swimmers do not need to bring their mesh bag or any equipment.

Swimmers need to bring the following:

  • team suit and backup suit
  • multiple pair of goggles
  • 2 to 3 towels for inbetween races
  • Lots of water and electrolytes
  • Healthy snacks such as apples, gold fish, granola, etc.
  • Some meets require you to bring your own chair (coaches will share this info ahead of time)
