New Student Lifeguard Certification Course

Lifeguard Training, First Aid, & CPR/AED 
 
This in person course is for 15 and over students and trains participants to become American Red Cross Lifeguards.    (Additional time may be necessary depending on capabilities).
 
Skill You will Learn in the Class:
  • Surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries
  • Rescue skills in the water and on land
  • First Aid training and professionsl rescuer CPR - to help you prepare for any emergency
  • Professional lifeguard responsibilities, such as interacting with the publick and addressing uncooperative patons
  • Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR/AED Certification (which are valid for two (2) years and are updated through the recertification course)

Cost: $300*     *CPR Masks and other safety equipment are included and required.

Class Schedule:
Monday, June 10th        9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Tuesday, June 11th        9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Wednesday, June 12th   9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Thursday, June 13th      9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Friday, June 14th           9:00 am - 3:00 pm
(Additional Time may be added depending on the capabilities)
 
Pre-Requisites:
Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously (freestyle or breaststroke) demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
Complete a time event in 1 minute, 40 seconds of starting in the water, swim 20 yards, perform feet-first or head-first surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound brick, surface and swim 20 yards on back with both hands holding the brick. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
 
Criteria for course completion and certification:
Attend and participate in the entire class sessions.
Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities.
Demonstrate competency in all required final rescue skill scenarios.
Pass both the written tests:
       o Section 1: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer & First Aid
       o Section 2: Lifeguard Skills
       o Must pass written with a minimum of 80%
