Reminders about practices for the rest of this week
November 20-November 24
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20
Regular practice schedule for all groups. Also, as we’ve previously mentioned, on any day where the weather falls to 60 degrees or below, we will provide hot chocolate for all at the conclusion of practice. Based on today’s weather, it looks like we are going to owe all the kids some steaming cocoa!
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21
Red & Blue: 12:45pm-1:45pm (And grandparents are more than welcome to come and watch!)
Advanced Blue & Gold: 1:00pm-3:30pm
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22
No practices. Happy Thanksgiving!
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23
All Groups – Turkey Bowling Practice – 10:00am-12:00pm
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 24
Red: No practice
Blue, Advanced Blue & Gold: Beach dryland and open water swim, 9:00am-11:30am
Additional Details for Saturday’s practice – Beach Dryland and Open Water Swim
· Location: Triathletes Beach (aka Hobie Beach) in Key Biscayne
· Directions: Once you pass the toll booth entering Key Biscayne, it is located on the south side of the Rickenbacker Causeway. Immediately after crossing the bridge, make the first right into the parking lot. There is free parking there.
· Swimmers should arrive by 9:00am, with suits on already, under workout shorts/t-shirt. We will do dryland training first, and all swimmers must have sneakers and at least two full water bottles. After dryland, as a group, we will commence our open water swim.
· This area is well marked for open water swimming. There are several buoys, 200 yards apart, parallel to the shore, from the beach to the Miami Seaquarium. The goal for Blue group swimmers is 1 mile swim; for Advanced Blue and Gold – distance TBD.
· There are restrooms and an outdoor fresh-water shower to rinse off after the swim.
· Safety during the swim: We will have coaches in kayaks moving with the kids for the duration of the swim, along with extra life preservers and rescue tubes. We will also have coaches swimming with the kids.
· Parents are more than welcome to join us – whether in a kayak or in the water swimming with the kids. Kayak rentals are available on site.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions. We are looking forward to these fun upcoming practices and hope to have great participation!
Thanks,
Coach Pittman
