March Practices = Stroke Clinic

It's March, and for many of our swimmers (Red, Blue, Advanced Blue), short course season has just concluded.  Long course season (where we will swim meets in 50 meter pools, rather than 25 yard pools), officially gets started on April 2.

What does all that mean?  It's Stroke Clinic time!

Basically, right now we are in our intersession phase – the few weeks between short course and long course season.  As such, during this time, we run a three week “stroke clinic.”  This week is backstroke, the next week is breastroke, and the third week is butterfly.  We start everyone from the beginning and reteach all the strokes, focusing on deliberate and purposeful practice – and strive to create really pretty swimming!  We also will be doing dives, turns and finishes each day.  In short, practices are 100% instructional and techinical-skill focused.

Stroke clinic time is a bit different than what we typically do during the season, and we really encourage all swimmers to take advantage of this valuable experience by attending as many practices as possible over the next three weeks.

See you at the pool!
