BC Weekend Thank you

Dear MCDA Parents,

I just wanted to take a minute and thank everyone who stepped up this past weekend to help make the BC Weekend @ Miami Country Day a great event.  The swim meet was a huge success!  We are ecstatic as to how smooth it all went. We received such wonderful comments about how well the meet ran from other coaches, other parents, and the officials.  Those comments are a direct reflection of our team of coaches and volunteers working together.  This parent group continues to display how dedicated you are to your swimmers, and the team.  It is a wonderful thing when we as a whole are all on the same page.

To those parents who volunteered, we can not thank you enough for all that you did.  Our grill master and concessions helpers pumped out over 200 burgers, 60 hot dogs, 100 bagels, coffee, donuts, chips snacks and more!  Our crack team at the gate were awesome getting to help all the parents to get into the pool deck quickly and smoothly.  Our timers and backup timers did an amazing job making sure the right kids were in the right lanes and took down all the times.  Our awards staff were so quick on Sunday putting together all the ribbons and medals for the teams as they left the pool area.  And we also had other volunteers that tended to the needs of everyone else on the deck, making sure people were well hydrated and feed and the flow of the meet was just on point.  THANK YOU ALL.

With the success of this meet, there is no doubt that we are looking forward to hosting many more in the future.  The coaching staff will begin to look over the calendar to see when we can best have meets that fit into the school’s master calendar and our training program.  The one thing I will ask is that we didn’t have any of our parents who are USA Swimming Certified Officials.  If there are any parents who might be interested in taking that step and want to be more involved, please reach out and let me know.  I am sure that I could get a clinic or two here and MCDS.  Also, if there are any tech savvy parents who might want to learn how to help run the scores table there are two positions that we can also set up clinics for to help get you certified.  The more “Meet Staff” we have on our team the easier it will be to set up meets.

Again, just a wonderful weekend.  I know not only will we have fond memories of MCDA’s first USA Swimming home meet, but all the swimmers will too.
