College Swimming Update
At MCDA, one of our goals is to help our athletes swim at the highest level. Many of our former swimmers have graduated high school and have moved on to continue their studies at colleges and universities all over America. We have had Spartan Swimmers at Cornel University (NY), Dartmouth College (NH), Wheaton (MA), New York University (NY), The University of Central Florida (FL), Santa Fe College (FL), Pomona College (CA) and many more. We believe that our program prepares them for the academic workload and the commitment to being a college athlete. Swimming opens doors for young people especially when you have a coaching staff with connections to college coaches all over the United States. We also believe here at Miami Country Day Aquatics, that not only do I want to see our swimmers swim fast and qualify for high level meets here, but we want to see them to continue to develop and get faster in college.
Two of our former club swimmers are actively swimming in college: Ben Wilson and Kaya Martin. Let’s check in and see how they did at there college conference championship meets…..
Ben is a Sophomore at Washington College in Chestertown, MD. He just competed at the Centennial Swimming Championships hosted at Franklin & Marshal University. Ben set a new school record in the 100 Back and won a silver medal with a time of 50.49. He was also part of two relays that set school records. Ben, lead of the 200 Medley relay in a blistering 22.91 in the 50 Back (which was the fastest time in the field).
