Team Break and Looking Ahead

MIAMI COUNTRY DAY AQUATICS SWIM TEAM

Hello Miami Country Day Aquatics Families,

I trust you have been having a wonderful summer.  To say the least our team has had a very successful summer.  The 2021-22 Swim Year has been remarkable.  We have seen growth in our roster numbers, at our high water mark we were at 158 registered swimmers, we held our first USA Club Meet, we have set countless new Short Course and Long Course Team Records, we had a record number of Spartan Swimmers participate in local swim meets, we had our first High School All-American, we had 4 swimmers qualify for the Southern Zone South Sectionals swim meet in Plantation, 2 athletes qualify for USA Triathlon Nationals and 2 qualify for Futures Championships in North Carolina.  And now we have our 1st swimmer in team history qualify for US Opens.  Exciting stuff for sure!

I know this gets my juices going.  So, I hope that you and your swimmers are as excited as we are for the 2022-2023 season as we are.  By the way, this is a very special year.  This season will mark the 10th anniversary of the club!!  I hope we can celebrate the Miami Country Day Aquatics Swim Team all year long.  A new year, a new decade an new approach.

Changes to the Club

We are very excited about the upcoming 2022-2023 season.  Our outstanding age-group coaching staff is returning and will be led by Head Coach, Eric Scheingoltz, starting his 8th year at the helm of the Spartans Swim Team, and Assistant Coaches Zoe Sianis and Anthony Vinelo will be back and are super excited about the new year!!!

To help every athlete get the most out of his or her training, we have decided to update our Group Designations.  We have updated the Pathways Group to Developmental Group I & II.  Developmental Group I will be for new swimmers who are 6-8 and Group II will be for new swimmers who are 9-11.

Also, with in the Bronze, Silver and Gold Groups we have added a new Elite Track.  We will continue to have levels I & II, but now we have added an Elite group to these training groups.  For example, Silver I will be for those swimmers who show the skill development for this group but not the commitment to attend practice and meets.  Silver II, will be for athletes who the coaching staff has made a significant improvements in skill developments, have made a commitment to practice attendance and who will compete in home and local swim meets.  And Silver Elite are those swimmers who are driven to achieve at the highest level within the group.  These swimmers will have made a commitment to attend the maximum number of practices and are regularly attending swim meets.  These Elite Tracks will have additional special practice sessions and team perks.  More information about our Elite track will be out shortly.

Registration Fee

Another change will be a small annual registration fee. The $75.00, per swimmer, registration fee is a yearly, non-refundable fee. This fee includes 2 MCDA t-shirts, and 2 swim caps.  For returning swimmers once the registration fee is paid then the account will be activated and you may begin practicing with the team.

**NEW USA Swimming Registration Process**
For the coming 2022-2023 Season ALL athletes will register for USA Swimming directly. USA Swimming member clubs will no longer process individual athlete memberships beginning with this season. Prior to the start of the season, you will receive information regarding the new USA Swimming registration process.

There will be more information to follow.  I am just so excited for this upcoming year.  I am expecting GREAT things.  Thank you for being a part of this big happy family!  I look forward to seeing you on the pool deck soon!

Enjoy your break,

Best,

Coach Eric
