Call for Help - Become a Certified Official and Support Our Team!

Eric Scheingoltz

Dear Spartan Swim Team Parents,

I trust this letter finds you well after what has been a long and busy couple of weeks. I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your incredible help and support during the BC Weekend meet that we hosted over Presidents Day Weekend. Your dedication and involvement played a crucial role in making this meet a tremendous success, and I want to thank each and every one of you for your contributions.

I am thrilled to announce that the BC Weekend Swim Meet has proven to be a resounding success, with countless lifetime best swims, a significant number of BB Championships qualifiers, and the establishment of a new club record. It was a phenomenal weekend that showcased the exceptional talent and commitment of our swimmers. Many of the other teams coachs also expressed how well the meet ran and that they would like us to host more often.

However, in retrospect, there is one downside to this otherwise fantastic event. The potential to host future meets is in jeopardy due to a lack of certified officials within our team. Currently, besides myself, we do not have any certified officials, and we have relied on support from other teams to ensure the meet could happen. At a USA Swimming sanctioned event we need to have a Meet Referee, a Starter, an Administrative Officer and Stroke & Turn Judges. Without the minimun number of these posistions filled our meet is not offical. Our meet met the bare minimum and we were super fortunate that other teams brought parents that could step into those roles, otherwise our meet might not have been "an official meet". We would have swam, but the times would not have counted as best times, records or qualifiying times for BB Champs, Age Group Champs and or Senior Champs, moving forward.

So this letter serves as a call for help. We need parents to step up and become certified officials. Not only will you play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our team and future meets, but we are willing to cover all the expenses associated with your training to become an official. Additionally, if you become a certified official and contribute to working our meets, you will be eligible for a 10% discount on your monthly team fees.

Our team would be willing to reach out to the Head of Officials and request a clinic here at MCDS. All we need is a minimum of 6 individuals to step up and volunteer. I am hopeful that some of you will consider taking on this vital role. Becoming a certified official is not only a great way to support our team, but it's also an opportunity to deepen your engagement with the sport and contribute to the growth and success of our swimmers.

If you are interested in this opportunity or have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly. Your commitment to our team is genuinely commendable, and I am confident that together, we can overcome this challenge and continue to thrive as a dedicated community.

Again, thank you for all that you do, thank you for your time, support, and your trust in us.

I look forward to seeing you pool side,

Go Spartans!

Eric
