Hurricanes Drop Massive Damage to PB’s

@ 2025 GCST Spring Invite LC

 

Over this past weekend, 9 strong winded Hurricane swimmers traveled to Ft. Myers for the first long course meet of the season. Lots of new Personal Best Times earned and a batch of new events tried. This meet was a great way for swimmers to see where they are at the start of the LC season. Time to train hard for this new season. 

 

Here are the numbers of this meet:

 

Biggest Losers: This is a positive award for swimmers dropping the most time over the meet. 

1st – Jacob (14) leaving 43.23 seconds behind in his trail of destruction. 

2nd – Erynn (13) dropping a nice 30.01 seconds over 3 events

3rd – Yulia (14) improving by a nice 20.91 seconds.

 

Those that tried new events:

Jacob (14) – 100 & 200 Breast, 200 Free

Chase (13) – 200 Free

Stefan (12) – In his first ever meet

 

Making new cuts:

Liz (15) – Senior Champs Cut in 200 IM

 

Moving up the Motivational Standards: These standards help swimmers set their next goal as they show improvement. 

AA Time earned –

A Times earned – 

Yulia (14) 100 Free, Erynn (13) 200 Free

BB Times earned – 

Jacob (14) 100 Free & 50 Free, Yulia (14) 100 Fly, Audry (15) 50 Free

B Times earned – 

Jacob (14) 100 Fly & 200 IM, Chase (13) 100 Free, Audry (15) 100 Fly, Erynn (13) 100 Back

 

This was a great start to the season. We really want to see more Hurricanes at swim meets. This is a great way to see how you are doing in your training and your progression in the sport. 

Speaking of swim meets we have several upcoming meets scheduled:

4/26/25 – CCS Developmental Meet in Port Charlotte. This meet is Short Course 25yd. Registration is due by Thursday 4/17/25

5/3-4/25 – Sea Dragons Aquatics May Open in Port Charlotte. This is Long Course

5/16-18/25 – SYS Memorial Meet in Sarasota. This is Long Course

6/7-8/25 – SRQ Summer LC in Sarasota. This is Long Course

6/20-22/25 – Mark McCaw Open in Ft Myers. This is Long Course/Prelim Final meet

7/25-27/25 – Area 5 Championship
