Dynamo Volunteers Commitment

Volunteerism is essential to the sport of swimming. To reach higher levels of competition, a swimmer must participate in swim meets in order to test his or her skills and strategies. These meets require many parent volunteers to function. At Dynamo, we are unique in that we own the pool and spectator space necessary to host 10-13 convenient home meets per year for the benefit of our swimmers and families. Staying at home for competition saves our members significant expenses associated with travel. It also brings the club revenue that helps support a full-time, professional coaching staff and helps maintain our exceptional practice facilities.

Our parent volunteers support our coaches and staff ensuring that our Dynamo home meets are successful and sustainable. In addition, USA Swimming requires a specified number of timers and officials at each meet to be officially sanctioned and times to appear in the USA Swimming SWIMS database. Since Dynamo’s volunteer jobs benefit all families, it is expected that all families share in their fulfillment. Dynamo’s 24-hour per year (September—August) volunteer commitment guaranteeing that all jobs will get done with equal distribution of work among all member families. Families should plan to volunteer for at least one shift of every meet in which their swimmer(s) participate. By registering for the team, you agree to the volunteer terms as shared here.

There are unlimited opportunities to get involved to help in almost any capacity. The rewards are meeting new people, making new friends and having that great feeling that you have helped one of the organizations in which volunteers are the most important people. Our jobs include:

  • Lane timers
  • Concessions and hospitality workers
  • Group parents
  • Fund raising
  • Officials
  • Board members
