Jake Camp, Head Coach
Jake Camp was born and raised in Dallas, Tx, where he graduated from Plano Senior High School in 2014. He swam for coaches Jay Chagnon and Flip Gammon at both Lakeside Aquatic Club and Metroplex Aquatics before swimming at SMU under head coach Eddie Sinnott. Jake graduated with a BS in applied physiology and sport management with a concentration in health management. The summer of 2017 he did his internship with the SMU strength and conditioning staff, working with football, volleyball, and men's and women's soccer. After under-grad, Jake completed his master’s degree in business administration at Henderson State University, working as the graduate-assistant swim coach for the 2018-2019 season. At Henderson State, Jake was responsible for coaching middle-distance athletes and functioned as the primary strength and conditioning coach for the swim team. Jake joined the Battleground coaching staff April of 2021 as the Senior Coach and then took over the program as head coach in May of 2022. “Swimming has given me the opportunity to race and become friends with people from all over the world. It is something that has changed my life and I want to share that experience with as many people as possible” - Jake Camp.

Mikayla Wood, Head Senior Coach
Mikayla Wood grew up in Deer Park, Tx, where she graduated from Deer Park High School in 2017. She swam for Deer Park High School and represented Battleground at Speedo Sectionals her senior year. After high school, Mikayla continued her swimming career at Henderson State University where she was a Conference A-Finalist in the 100 Breastroke, 200 Breaststroke, and the 200 IM her Freshman and Sophomore seasons. After suffering a shoulder injury, she returned to Deer Park and graduated from the University of Houston which a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in mariage and family therapy while coaching Battleground's most experienced and high-performance athletes.
