Training Groups

PCA offers training for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is our goal to offer age specific training for our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the BEST of THEIR abilities.

Blue Group:  Novice, Intermediate & Advanced

This is our entry level group. Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards without stopping and without assistance to try out with this group.  Swimmers will practice in different levels, Novice/Intermediate/Advanced, within the Blue Group depending on their skill development.  Athletes will learn all four competitive strokes and work on stroke, starts and turn techniques.  Swimmers are encouraged to enter their first swim meets and continue entering meets about one per month based on the current meet schedule.

Workout Days/Times: Monday - Friday, 5:15PM - 7:00PM (except holidays)

 

White Group

After graduating from the Advanced Blue group, athletes will enter into this competitive group.  Athletes in this group are usually at least 9 years old and have achieved at least A times by Hawaiian Swimming Time Standards in their events. This group is exposed to more frequent training and yardage while still focusing on developing stroke technique in all four competitive strokes.  Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged at a rate of at least twice per month based on the current meet schedule.  Dryland training techniques will be introduced and is highly recommended for all athletes in this group.

Workout Days/Times: Monday - Friday, 5:15PM - 7:00PM (except holidays)

 

Purple Group:  Senior & Junior

Purple - Senior Development Group

Minimum age for entry into this group is 13 years old. Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis, and competing regularly.  Competition is required at all novice swim meets and Age Group meets and goals are to achieve minimum A times by Hawaiian Swimming Time Standards.  Swimmers in this group may still be working on their technique development of the four basic strokes.  Dryland training and yoga are expected of this group.

Purple - Senior Competition and Junior (12 & U) Competition Groups

Athletes entering this group must display a strong commitment and desire to practice and perform at a higher level. Training is geared towards individual talents and devloping and maintaining a stronger aerobic endurance.  Athletes in this group have achieved minimum INV times and minimum SR-B times by Hawaiian Swimming Time Standards.  The top Junior and Senior athletes in this group are competitive at all Age Group meets, Invitational meets, Senior meets, Distance meets, and qualifying local Championship meets.  The top athletes in this group have achieved higher level time standards including State Age Group Championship times (AAA), State Senior Championships times (SRA), and Western Zone Senior Championship times (SRZ).  Regular dryland training and yoga are expected of this group.

Purple - Senior Elite & National Group

Minimum criteria for entry into this group are CHMP times and SR-A times by Hawaiian Swimming Time Standards.  Athletes in this group are competitive in all Age Group meets, Invitationals, Senior meets, Distance meets and local Championship meets.  The top Junior athletes in this group have achieved higher level time standards including Northwest Region Age Group Championship times (NWAG),  Southwest Region Age Group Championship times (SWGR), as well as Far Western Age Group Championship times (FARW) and Western Zone Age Group Championship times (AG-Z).  The top Senior athletes in this group have achieved higher level time standards including Speedo Sectional Championship times (SECT), Futures Championship times (FUT), Winter Junior National Championship times (WJR) and higher.  Regular dryland training and yoga are expected of ths group.  This group represents the highest level of commitment and swimming in the club, and swimmers in this group are recommended to travel regularly to compete at national level championship meets.

Workout Days/Times: Monday - Friday, 5:15PM - 7:00PM (except holidays) & Saturdays and Sundays as scheduled.
