Ron E. Iwamoto, ASCA, Head Coach & Senior Group Coach  Email Coach Ron

Coach Ron is the Head Coach of PCA and has been coaching for the club since 2010.  He has been a member of PCA since 2005 and has served in various leadership roles at the club level, as well as in the Hawaiian Swimming LSC.  He is the lead coach for the PURPLE Senior Elite/National Group, Senior & Junior Competition Groups, and Senior Development Group at the K. Mark Takai Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center and Shigeo Ushiro Manana Neighborhood Park Swimming Pool.  Click for Coach Ron's Bio

 

Pono Chung, ASCA, Associate Head Coach, Blue Group & White Group Coach  Email Coach Pono

Coach Pono is an the Associate Head Coach for PCA and the lead coach for the BLUE Group and WHITE Group at the K. Mark Takai Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center and Shigeo Ushiro Manana Neighborhood Park Swimming Pool.  He also works with the competitive swimmers in the SENIOR Group.  Coach Pono is responsible for developing swimmers from the beginner level to achieveing their CHMP qualifying State Championship times, Regional Champioinship times, Senior Sectional championship times and higher.  He has developed Junior Age Group State Champions, Age Group State Champions and Regional Champions.  Coach Pono swam competitively for PCA and was a former Senior Competition Group swimmer.  He served as an athlete representative for PCA representing our swimmers on our Board of Direction.  He graduated from Pearl City High School in 2021, and now attends the University of Hawaii at Manoa to further his education.  Coach Pono is a backstroke and freestyle specialist and represented PCA in Age Group State Championship & Senior State Championship competition and was also an OIA Championship and HHSAA Championship competitor for Pearl City High School.

 

Kei Nishikawa, Assistant Coach, Blue Group & White Group Coach

Coach Kei is an Assistant Coach for PCA and one of the assistant coaches for the BLUE and WHITE Groups at the K. Mark Takai Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center and Shigeo Ushiro Manana Neighborhood Park Swimming Pool.  She is responsible for developing swimmers from the beginner level to achieving their A, INV and CHMP qualifying times and also works with swimmers in the SENIOR Group.  Coach Kei swims competitively for PCA in the Senior Elite Group. She is a distance freestyle and butterfly specialist and has represented PCA in Age Group State Championships, Senior State Championships, Northwest Age Group Regional Championships, Far Western Age Group Champioships, and in Western Zone Senior Championships competition.  Coach Kei served as an athlete representative for PCA leading our athletes for the past 5 years.  She graduated from Aiea High School where she represented her school in OIA swimming competition.  She is the past OIA State Champion in the 200 and 500 Freestyle events for multiple seasons, as well as a past medalist in HHSAA Swimming Championships in both the 200 and 500 Freestyle events for multiple seasons.  She is currently continuing her academic and swimming career at Pacific Lutheran University. 

 

Naomi Isawa, Assistant Coach & Blue Group Coach

Coach Naomi is an Assistant Coach for PCA and one of the assistant coaches for the BLUE Group at the K. Mark Takai Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center and Shigeo Ushiro Manana Neighborhood Park Swimming Pool.  Coach Naomi is responsible for developing swimmers from the beginner level to achieving their A and INV qualifying times.  Coach Naomi swims competitively for PCA in the Senior Competition Group. She is a breaststroke specialist and has represented PCA in Age Group State Championship competition.

 

Kenna Kaneshiro, Assistant Coach & Blue Group Coach

Coach Kenna is an Assistant Coach for PCA and one of the assistant coaches for the BLUE Group at the K. Mark Takai Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center and Shigeo Ushiro Manana Neighborhood Park Swimming Pool.  She also assists the competitive swimmers in the WHITE Group.  Coach Kenna is responsible for developing swimmers from the beginner level to achieving their INV and CHMP qualifying State Championship times.  She has developed Junior Age Group State Champions and medalists, as well as Age Group State Championship finalists.  Coach Kenna swam competitively for PCA in the Senior Competition Group and served as an athlete representative for the club.  She is a Mid-Pacific Institute graduate and is attending the University of California at Berkeley.  Coach Kenna is a breaststroke specialist and has represented PCA in both Age Group & Senior State Championship competition and was also an ILH High School Championship competitor for Mid-Pacific Institute.

 

Ty Nishikawa, Assistant Coach & Blue Group Coach

Coach Ty is an Assistant Coach for PCA and one of the assistant coaches for the BLUE Group at the K. Mark Takai Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center and Shigeo Ushiro Manana Neighborhood Park Swimming Pool.  He also works with the competitive swimmers in the WHITE Group and SENIOR Group.  Coach Ty swam competitively for PCA and was a former Senior Competition Group swimmer.  He served as an athlete representative for PCA representing our swimmers on our Board of Direction.  After graduating from Aiea High School in 2023, he is continuing his education at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University majoring an Aeronautics.  Coach Ty is a backstroke and freestyle specialist and represented PCA in Senior State Championship competition and was also an OIA Championship and HHSAA Championship competitor for Aiea High School.
