2024 Spring and Summer Information

April 1 to July 28, 2024

The Dowling Catholic Riptide Swim Club is open to all who want to join.  Each swimmer must have a basic understanding of the competitive swimming strokes, starts and turns as this is not a learn-to-swim program.  Each participant must have a willingness to work hard, be coachable and try to be the best they can be.

8 and Under

All swimmers 8 and under will swim in this group.  Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and 25 yards backstroke with strong technique. This group is stroke technique based and will be introduced to meet racing components. Swimmers are expected to attend practices at least twice a week and attend at least 1 swim meet per season.

Season Fee: 4 payments of $90 paid at registration, on May, June, and July 1.

Level 1

Swimmers in this group are typically ages 9-11 who have less than 2 years of swim team experience. Swimmers must be able to swim 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke with proper technique. Swimmers should be legal or nearly legal in all 4 strokes, legal turns, and competitive starts.  Continuation of stroke technique will be emphasized. Training will consist of endurance and anaerobic sets. Pace clock reading will be emphasized as well as race strategy. Swimmers are expected to attend practices at least twice a week and attend at least 1 swim meet per season.

Season Fee: 4 payments of $100 paid at registration and on May, June, and July 1.

Level 2

Swimmers in this group are typically ages 9-13 who have at least 2 years of swim team experience. Swimmers should be legal or nearly legal in all 4 strokes, legal turns, and competitive starts.  Swimmers must be also be able to swim 200 yards continuously in freestyle in under 4 minutes. Continuation of stroke technique will be emphasized. Training will consist of endurance and anaerobic sets. Pace clock reading will be emphasized as well as race strategy. Swimmers are expected to attend practices at least twice a week and attend at least 3 swim meets per season. Swimmers who qualify for the season championship meet are expected to attend.

Season Fee: 4 payments of $135 paid at registration and on May, June, and July 1.

Level 3

Swimmers in this group are generally ages 11 and older.  Swimmers must be able to swim all four competitive strokes with turns legally. Swimmers are expected to have the endurance for a full 90 minute practice.  Swimmers must be able to complete a 200 freestyle in under 3 minutes and maintain proper technique swimming 10 x 100y freestyle on a 2:15 interval. Continuation of stroke technique will be emphasized. Training will consist of endurance and anaerobic sets. Pace clock reading will be emphasized as well as race strategy. Swimmers are expected to attend practices at least three times a week and attend at least 3 swim meets per season. Swimmers who qualify for the season championship meet are expected to attend.

Season Fee: 4 payments of $155 paid at registration and on May, June, and July 1.

Level 4

Swimmers in this group are generally ages 11 and older.  Swimmers must be able to swim all four competitive strokes with turns legally. Swimmers are expected to have the endurance for a full 90 minute practice.  Swimmers must be able to maintain proper form swimming 10 x 100y freestyle on a 1:50 interval. Continuation of stroke technique will be emphasized. Training will consist of endurance and anaerobic sets. Pace clock reading will be emphasized as well as race strategy. Swimmers are expected to attend practices at least three times a week and attend at least 3 swim meets per season. Swimmers who qualify for the season championship meet are expected to attend.

Season Fee: 4 payments of $165 paid at registration and on May, June, and July 1.

Seniors

Swimmers in this group will typically be entering High School in the fall of 2024 through graduating seniors. Swimmers must be able to swim all four competitive strokes with turns legally and understand how to use a pace clock.  Stroke technique will be emphasized with training sets geared toward strong meet performance. Swimmers will compete in all events offered in their age group. Swimmers are expected to attend practices at least 4 times per week and attend at least 3 swim meets per season. Swimmers who qualify for the season championship meet are required to attend.

Season Fee: 4 payments of $190 paid at registration and on May, June, and July 1.
