Matt lives in Mason City with his wife, Tara, and their two daughters. Both girls swim with Mason City Swim Club.  He began swimming with MCSC in 1987 and actively swam year-round with the club through high school.  Matt swam for the Mason City High School boys team and was a 4-year State Meet individual and relay qualifier.  Following high school, Matt swam for two NCAA seasons at St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN. He also previously coached the MCSC 8 & Under group in the summer between college seasons.
