Swim Team Code of Conduct

1. Respect for Others:

  • Treat all teammates, coaches, officials, and competitors with respect and courtesy.

  • Avoid any form of verbal, physical, or emotional harassment or bullying.

  • Encourage and support fellow teammates, regardless of their skill level or performance.

2. Safety:

  • Follow all safety guidelines and instructions provided by coaches and lifeguards.

  • Be aware of your surroundings and the safety of others while in and around the pool.

  • Report any hazards or unsafe conditions to a coach or lifeguard immediately.

3. Attendance and Punctuality:

  • Attend all practices, meetings, and competitions unless excused by a coach.

  • Arrive on time for practices and competitions, ready to participate and contribute positively to the team environment.

4. Sportsmanship:

  • Display good sportsmanship at all times, win or lose.

  • Shake hands with opponents and congratulate them after races, regardless of the outcome.

  • Accept decisions made by officials respectfully and without argument.

5. Commitment:

  • Demonstrate dedication and commitment to personal improvement and the success of the team.

  • Strive to achieve your best performance in practices and competitions.

  • Support team goals and initiatives, both on and off the pool deck.

6. Integrity:

  • Compete honestly and fairly, adhering to the rules and regulations of the sport.

  • Refrain from cheating, doping, or engaging in any form of unethical behavior.

  • Report any instances of rule violations or misconduct observed during competitions.

7. Communication:

  • Communicate openly and respectfully with coaches, teammates, and other members of the swim team.

  • Raise any concerns or issues through appropriate channels, such as team meetings or discussions with coaches.

8. Dress Code:

  • Wear appropriate swim attire during practices, competitions, and team events.

  • Represent the team professionally and with pride when wearing team uniforms or apparel.

9. Personal Conduct:

  • Avoid the use of profanity, offensive language, or inappropriate behavior while representing the team.

  • Refrain from the use of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal substances at all team-related activities.

10. Social Media Use:

  • Adhere to the team’s official Social Media Code of Conduct

11. Support for Teammates:

  • Encourage and support teammates during practices, competitions, and personal challenges.

  • Offer assistance to teammates in need and celebrate their achievements and successes.

12. Adherence to Team Policies:

  • Familiarize yourself with and abide by all team policies, rules, and guidelines.

  • Accept responsibility for your actions and adhere to any disciplinary measures imposed for violations of the code of conduct.


By adhering to this code of conduct, members of the swim team can contribute to a positive and supportive team environment that fosters personal growth, sportsmanship, and excellence in swimming.
