10 and Under Prep

Lead Coach- Rob Busby

The 10 and under Prep group is designed for young swimmers who are just starting to develop their skills in the water. Typically, children in this age group are beginners or have very basic swimming abilities. The main focus of this group is to introduce them to the fundamentals of swimming in a fun and supportive environment.

In these sessions, coaches emphasize water safety, proper breathing techniques, basic strokes (such as freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly), and basic swim drills.  Swimmers will learn body balance, underwater streamlining, and kick outs. They will learn how to control their body in the water which enhances coordination in order to  improve their stroke mechanics.

The goal is to help children feel comfortable and confident in the water while gradually improving their swimming skills.

Classes are usually structured with a mix of instruction, drills, and games to keep the young swimmers engaged and motivated. Coaches may also incorporate activities that improve coordination, endurance, and overall fitness.

The emphasis is not on competition but rather on skill development, building water confidence, and fostering a love for swimming. As children progress, they may have the opportunity to move up to more advanced swimming groups where they can further refine their skills and potentially compete in swim meets.
