USA Swimming has implemented a new Safe Sport Initiative. The Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP) will go into effect on Sunday, June 23rd 2019. USA Swimming’s top priority continues to be keeping our athletes safe. No form of abuse, including child sexual abuse, has a place in our sport.
USA Swimming member clubs and LSCs are required to implement this Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy in full.
The Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy must be reviewed and agreed to in writing by all athletes, parents, coaches and other non-athlete members of member clubs on an annual basis with such written agreement to be retained by the club.

All MMAC families must comply with this requirement by committing to the MAAPP event on the MMAC website by the second week of each season. Commitment/acknowledgement is just like committing to a swim meet.
By committing to the MAAPP event for each McHenry Marlins Aquatic Club (MMAC) Swimming Team Member in your family, you are acknowledging the following statement:
I acknowledge that I have received, read and understood the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy and/or that the Policy has been explained to me or my family. I further acknowledge and understand that agreeing to comply with the contents of this policy is a condition of my membership with McHenry Marlins Aquatic Club Swimming.
If you have any questions regarding the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy, please leave your question in the comments section when completing the commitment/acknowledgement.
You will notice a few changes to how McHenry Marlins Aquatic Club operates in order to abide by MAAPP. These changes include but are not limited to the following:
Communication
Communication between McHenry Parks & Recreation & MMAC staff and MMAC athletes of any kind outside of practice/competition (phone, text, email, other) will be limited to between the hours of 8:00 am – 8:00 pm.

This applies both directions. Athletes will be required to copy a parent/guardian in communication to MMAC staff and MMAC staff will be required to copy a parent/guardian in communication with MMAC athletes.
