CHRIS PLUMB
CEO/Head Coach

Chris Plumb was named Head Coach/CEO of Carmel Swim Club in July 2006, but has been with the program since 2003.  As Head Coach/CEO, Chris oversees all aspects of the club, and he coaches High Performance training group.  He is a dynamic leader for the organization, and works tirelessly to push Carmel to be a model club both in the state of Indiana and nationally.  Chris’s execution of the Carmel Swim Club vision to be a community club with a national presence continues to push CSC to new levels of success, including recognition as a USA Swimming Gold Medal Club of Excellence ten times since 2010.

Chris cares deeply about each athlete on the Carmel Swim Club. While he cannot work with each swimmer directly, his passion for their success shines through in his mentorship and development of his staff-- ensuring every athlete receives the best care and coaching to work towards their long-term athletic development.

Chris is an advocate for the sport of swimming and is committed to making water safety and accessibility a key component of Carmel Swim Club's future. In addition to overseeing CSC's competitive program, Chris is launching the Carmel Swim Academy, the next step in teaching excellence through swimming for life, to ensure all central Indiana children learn the essential life-saving skill of swimming.

When Chris took over as Head Coach/CEO of the Carmel Swim Club, the team did not have any individual Junior National, National, or Olympic Trials qualifiers: that has changed drastically.  Carmel proudly took 17 athletes to the 2012 Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska and nine athletes in 2016.  Throughout Chris's tenure, CSC has placed multiple athletes on the USA Swimming National Junior Team and two on the National Team (Claire Adams and Amy Bilquist). Carmel won the 2016 Junior National Championship, the Carmel girls team won the 2014 Speedo Junior National Team title, multiple swimmers have won 18 and Under National Championships, numerous relays have broken National Age Group Records, and individuals have set American and Junior World Records.  Chris served as the Head Coach for Team USA at the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, and served as the assistant women's coach at the 2017 FINA World Jr. Championships.

Chris is also the Head Coach at Carmel High School.  He directed the 2020 Carmel Boys and Girls Swim Teams to IHSAA State Championship Titles.  Coach Plumb has been at the helm for the last 14 of the Lady Hound’s 34 consecutive titles and 2020 marked his ninth title for the boys.  He was inducted into the 2011 class of honorees in the Indiana Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame.

Coach Plumb devotes his time and energy to both Indiana and USA Swimming supported camps.  Most recently, Chris served as the Head Women’s Coach for the USA Swimming National Junior Team Camp.  He also fulfilled the same role for the Indiana Swimming Olympic Training Center Camp, which 14 Carmel swimmers attended.  Chris was also the Head Coach for this camp in 2009.  Chris was an assistant coach for USA Swimming’s National Select Camp in 2009, the Head Coach of the Eastern Zone Select Camp in 2010, an assistant at the 2006 Central Zone Select Camp, and an assistant coach for the Indiana Central Zone Team in 2005.

Chris succeeds not just in inspiring his swimmers with his character and coaching, but also through his actions.  Chris swam for Indiana University, where he was an All-American.

Chris lives in Carmel with his wife, Emily and sons William and Nicholas.
