Swim Groups

Developmental (White Group)

This group is our introductory level.  The swimmers in this group are primarily K-2 grade students. To be in this group swimmers must be independant and comfortable in the water on both their front and back as well as be able to complete one length of the pool (25yds). The general understanding of freestyle and backstroke are a bonus.  In this group swimmers will learn basic skills of all four strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly).  Those skills will include, but are not limited to, proper body position, proper stroke motion, and proper kick. This group will also learn to dive, do a flipturn, and a legal finish for each stroke. 

Practices: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 5:30-6:30pm.

Meet Expectations: Our Coaches will communicate with parents once they feel their swimmers are ready to participate in a meet.

To advance to the next group a swimmer must have a working knowledge of all 4 strokes, and be able to handle an increased practice load.

Elementary (Grey Group)

Swimmers in this group are primarily 3-5 grade students. To join this group athletes should have a working knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) and be able to swim 50yds continuously. The focus of this group is continued improvement of stroke mechanics while increasing the training load. Swimmers in this group will also be introduced to longer aerobic swimming, use of the clock for interval training, and refinement of start and turn skills, underwater streamline, head & body alignment, and underwater kicking. 

Practices: Monday through Thursday 6:15-7:30pm. Each practice will begin with dryland training followed by pool time.

Meet Expectations: Athletes are encouraged to attend at least 2 meets with an emphasis on more as the swimmer develops.

To advance to the next group a swimmer must have a working knowledge of all 4 strokes, be able to swim a 100yds continuously, and be able to handle an increased practice load.

Middle School (Black Group)

Swimmers in this group are 6-8 grade students. To join this group athletes should have a working knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) and be able to swim 100yds continuously. This group will focus on advancing their stroke mechanics and improving race strategy. Swimmers in this group will be expected to use the clock for interval training sets and are responsible for their own equipment. 

Practices: Monday through Thursday 5:30-7:00pm, Friday 4:30-5:30pm. This group does not practice during the school swim season (Jan-Feb)

Meet Expectations: Athletes are expected to attendat least 2 club meets, but highly encouraged to swim all meets until school season starts and return for divisional championships if qualified.

To advance to the next group a swimmer must be able to legally swim all 4 strokes, complete 200yds continuously, and be able to handle an increased practice load.

High School

Swimmers in this group are primarily 9-12 grade students. Swimmers in this group will continue to refine their mechanics in each of the strokes, while increasing workload.  Swimmers will be expected to use the clock for interval sets and be accountable for knowing how they are pacing throughout practice.  Athletes will also be responsible for their own equipment in this training group. A focus of this group is competing and improving completion skills ranging from physical fitness, nutrition, mental and physical preparation, and pre and post-race strategy.

Practices: Monday through Thursday 3:30-5:15pm, Friday 3:30-4:30pm, Saturday 8-10am. This group does not practice during the school swim season (Nov-Feb)

Meet Expectations: Athletes are expected to attendat least 2 club meets, but highly encouraged to swim all meets until school season starts and return for divisional championships if qualified.
