New Sharks

As a new member of Plymouth Aquatics Club, swimmers will likely begin in either Bronze or Silver Group as determined by the coaching staff.  Below is a description of each group to help parents understand the swim levels.

Bronze – This group will teach the fundamentals of competitive swimming. Swimmers will learn proper technique for flutter kick, stroke techniques for freestyle & backstroke, and learn the mechanics for butterfly and breaststroke. In order to graduate to the Silver Group, swimmers must be able to complete a 50 of freestyle and backstroke and a 25 of breaststroke and butterfly in practice. Bronze swimmers are encouraged to compete in conference meets. All other meets are optional and upon the recommendation of their coach. Monthly dues for this group is $80/month.  If paying in full full season, there is a 10% discount. Practices are one hour per day on Monday and Wednesdays and some Fridays (swimmers in this group practice 2-3 times per week).

Silver - This group will focus on stroke mechanics, technique for all 4 strokes, and will begin working on endurance (more yardage per workout.) Swimmers will learn proper techniques for butterfly and breaststroke kicks, stroke techniques for breaststroke and butterfly, turn techniques, and block starts. In order to graduate, swimmers must be able to complete a 100 of freestyle and backstroke, a 50 of breaststroke and butterfly, and a 100 IM. Silver swimmers are encouraged to compete in conference meets and one invitational. All other meets are optional and upon the recommendation of their coach. Monthly dues for this group is $100/month. If paying in full, there is a 10% discount. Practices are 90 minutes per day Monday – Thursday and some Fridays (swimmers in this group typically practice 3-5 times per week).

Gold +
Gold and up swimmers emphasize proper stroke and kick techniques for all 4 strokes. Swimmers will learn to use interval training and utilization of the pace clock as well as learn and implement race strategies for use at meets. A gradual progression of yardage is introduced. Higher level swimmers focus on higher levels of competitive swimming including obtaining multiple divisional, state, and junior national/national qualifying times. Practices are 2 hours up to 5 nights per week and swimmers are strongly encouraged to attend a minimum of 4 nights per week. Monthly dues are $125 per month

Senior
Seniors are those Sharks who have completed (at a minimum) their Freshman year in high school. These swimmers typically return in the summer and pre/post high school season to continue to represent the Sharks at conference meets, Sharkfest, and invitationals. Monthly dues are $125 but can be prorated depending upon the month and the weeks they swim.

Stroke and Turn – For those who are not sure if they are ready for competitive swimming, swimmers may do a 2 week trial.  The cost is $40.00 and swimmers will participate in practice with the other sharks.   Practices are 45 mins – 1 hour per day Monday – Thursday for 2 calendar weeks at the beginning of the season.
