Stephanie & Mya Thompson Memorial Scholarship
The Stephanie & Mya Thompson Memorial Scholarship offers renewable scholarships on a season-to-season basis for families and athletes with demonstrated financial need who display a willingness and desire to join the Boilermaker Aquatics community through practice attendance and volunteer support.
Scholarship awards cover, in part or in whole, regular practice dues for the current season. Additionally, Scholarship recipients are eligible for a USA Swimming Outreach membership and additional benefits through Indiana Swimming.

The Stephanie & Mya Thompson memorial scholarship is named to honor the memories of this mother and daughter pair who exemplified what it means to be a long-term member of our team and our community.
For more than a decade, Mya and Stephanie, along with the rest of the Thompson family, were active members of our team and community. Mya grew her skills and leadership through regular practice attendance and a positive attitude. She was most recently a member of our Senior Black roster group, traveling from Monticello, IN to participate regularly in our highest-level 18&U training group as she prepared to compete at the 2022 Speedo Sectional Championships. Stephanie gave back to the club by training to become an official and volunteering to officiate regularly at both our BA-hosted home meets and meets we traveled to participate in.
Their absence is missed greatly by our community, but their memory lives on through this fund to provide additional opportunity to committed athletes and remove financial barriers to the sport of swimming.
How to Apply
Interested athletes/families will submit their request through our online scholarship application form, including relevant income documentation. The scholarship committee will review all applications and send a determination message via email to the family and club Team Administrator. Once a scholarship application has been approved, the Team Admin will provide instructions to the family for how to complete their online Boilermaker Aquatics registration.
A new application is required before the start of each new season (twice per year).
Families receiving scholarship are must meet Boilermaker Aquatics' required meet support/volunteer comittment each season.

Details
A scholarship will not cover ALL fees families may incur during the course of a competitive swim season. Expenses and fees that apply during a swim season include:
- Registration Fees
- Practice Fees
- USA Swimming Membership
- Meet Entry Fees
- Swimwear, accessories, practice gear
- Travel/accomodations to away meets
Scholarship awards will not cover all fees, but will cover practice fees. Additional support for scholarship recipients is available from USA Swimming and Indiana Swimming in the form of Outreach memberships and no-cost entry to championship season meets for athletes who qualify.
