PSC is committed to the safety and well-being of all of our members, ensuring the safety of our athlete's is our top priority. As stated in our mission statement:  The mission of the Piranhas is to provide a safe and supportive environment that promotes swimming as a lifelong sport and competitive swimming as an aspect of that sport. We strive to empower every swimmer, regardless of age or ability, to reach his or her highest personal potential, both as an athlete and as a person.

Parent "to do" list:

  • If your swimmer is 17, READ BELOW** regarding what happens when athletes turn 18---the rules change as soon as the swimmer turns 18 and they are referred to as an "adult athlete" and there are REQUIREMENTS for "adult athletes".  Including complete of "Athlete Protection Training" which can be taken starting 60 days before the swimmer turns 18.
  • We encourage parents to complete the Safe Sport training 1 time each year and stay current with ways USA Swimming is working to keep our swimmers safe.  This is not required, but highly recommended.  The training should take less than 30 minutes and can be done anytime online.  Once you take the initial "SafeSport Training, you can complete the shorter "Refresher" years following.

        • Login and begin!  USA Swiming keeps record of training completions and status.

**Effective September 1, 2022, there will no longer be a 30-day administrative grace period for athletes who turn age 18. Going forward, any 17-year-old athlete who has not completed the APT requirement by their 18th birthday will not be a USA Swimming member in good standing unless or until the APT requirement is completed. This includes eligibility to compete in USA Swimming sanctioned meets, club practices and all other related activities. Athletes will continue to receive an email notification reminder of the APT requirement 30 days prior to their 18th birthday as well as a reminder on their 18th birthday.

As of September 1, 2021 USA Swimming implemented the New Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy ("MAAPP") set forth by the US Center for Safe Sport.  The PSC MAAPP policy can be found: /isbpvst/UserFiles/Image/QuickUpload/psc-maapp-2023_009785.docx

Safe Sport trainings are required for Coaches, Officials, Board members, adult athletes (age 18 and over).  Safe Sport trainings are encouraged for athletes ages 12-17 and non-athletes (parents, grandparents, adults who drive carpool for athletes, etc.)
