The Piranhas swim club is made up of several team groups.  Each group is designed to help swimmers become stronger and more proficient in the water.

Developmental 1 (Entry Level Group)

Eligible if: 

  • At least 5 years of age

  • Able to perform a front and back float

  • Must be able to demonstrate 15 yards of front crawl

Focus: This group introduces new swimmers to competitive swimming. The swimmers will focus solely on Freestyle and Backstroke technique including but not limited to streamlines, kicking,drills, turns, and diving.

Practice: Three 45 minute practices are offered a week.

Meets: We encourage swimmers to try one of the beginner meets that is on our schedule.

Required Equipment: Goggles, swimsuit, towel, and fins

Cost: $80 monthly

 

 

Developmental 2 (Entry Level Group)

Eligible if:

  • Must be at least 5 years of age

  • Must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle with streamline and rotary breathing.

  • Must be able to swim 25 yards backstroke with streamline.

  • Must be able to perform a standing dive from the side of the pool.

Focus: This group will continue to build on the freestyle and backstroke, while introducing breaststroke and butterfly. The swimmers will continue to work on drills, kicking, streamline, turns, and starts (Diving Certification must be completed first by a coach before the blocks will be introduced). 

Practice: Three 45 minute practices are offered a week. 

Meets: We encourage the swimmers to attend 2 beginner meets that are on our schedule.

Equipment Needed: Goggles, swimsuit, towel, and fins

Cost: $80 monthly

 
 
Bronze (Beginner Training Group)
 

Eligible if:

  • Must be able to swim 50 yards freestyle with streamline and rotary breathing.

  • Must be able to swim 50 yards backstroke with streamline.

  • Must be able to swim 25 yards of breaststroke and butterfly.

  • Must have completed the diving certification.

  • Must be able to perform open and flip turns.

Focus: This group will continue working all 4 strokes. This will include using drills, practicing underwaters, breastroke pullouts, starts, finishes, and legal open and flip turns. This group will also begin to focus on relays. The swimmers will also begin to learn the fundamentals of the IM and basic competitive swimming rules. 

Practice: Four 1-hour practices per week are offered.

Meets: We encourage swimmers to attend 1-3 meets per season.

Equipment Needed: Goggles, swimsuit, towel, kickboard, and fins

Cost: $90 monthly

 
Silver (Intermediate Training Group)
 

Eligible if:

  • Must be able to swim 100 yards of freestyle and backstroke with flip turns.

  • Must be able to swim 50 yards of legal butterfly and breaststroke with open turns and breaststroke pullouts.

  • Must be able to swim a legal 100 IM with legal turns.

  • Must have a legal start from the block.

Focus: The swimmers in this group will become more focused on preparing for competitions. This group will continue working all 4 strokes. This will include using drills, practicing underwaters, breastroke pullouts,  starts, finishes, and legal open and flip turns. They will also add new skills and equipment to practices including: snorkels and pull buoys.The coaches will also talk about competitive swimming rules with the swimmers and work on timed intervals.

Practice: It is recommended that Silver swimmers attend 3-4 practices per week. Four 1 hour and 15 minute practices are offered weekly.

Meets: We expect swimmers to attend at least 3-4 meets per season.

Equipment Needed: Goggles, swimsuit, and towel, kickboard, pull buoy, snorkel, and fins

Cost: $95 Monthly

Gold (Intermediate Training Group)

 

Eligible if:

  • Must be able to legally swim 200 Freestyle and Backstroke with legal starts, turns, and finishes. 

  • Must also be able to swim 100 breaststroke legally with turns and pull outs and 100 butterfly.

  • Must be able to swim a 200 IM legally.

  • Must attend at least 3 practices a week consistently and attend 3-4 meets per season.

  • Must have achieved 1-2 state qualifying times.

Focus: These swimmers are introduced to advanced age group swimming. Swimmers have devoted time to develop skills in the water. Dryland will be offered in the Gold group, working on core strength. The swimmers will also continue working on turns, starts, relays, endurance, intervals, and preparing for the next level which is Jr. High and High School swimming. 

Practice: Gold swimmers are recommended to attend 4 practices a week on a consistent basis.  Four 1 hour and 30 minute practices are offered weekly. 

Meets: We expect swimmers to attend at least 4-5 meets per season.

Equipment Needed: Goggles, swimsuit, and towel, kickboard, pull buoy, snorkel, and fins

Cost: $100 Monthly

Senior (Advanced Training Group)

Focus: 13&Over training group. This group is focused on keeping swimmers in shape for HS season and/or getting them ready for the transition to High School Swimming.

Practice: 5-6 practices offered per week, with an additional 2 morning practices per week.

Meets: Minimum of 3 meets per season. 

Required Equipment: Kickboard, Pull Buoy, Paddles, Fins, and Snorkel.

Cost: $120 monthly

Eligible if: Swimmers have at least completed the Silver or Gold level requirements within the PSC program.

 

Platinum Elite (Advanced Training Group

​Focus:  This is an advanced training group where swimmers are dedicated to consistently attending practices and competing at a high level. The Platinum Elite group is a performance-based group and swimmers are asked to meet the following requirements:

- Maintain a 70% Attendance Rate.

​- 2 Travel and 2 Local Meet per season​.

- Attend all prelim/finals sessions qualified for.

- Attend all days qualified for at the State Meet.

Practice: ​6 practices offered per week, with an additional 2 morning practices.

Required Equipment: ​Kick Board, Pull Buoy, Paddles, Fins, and Snorkel.

Cost: $120 monthly

Eligible If: Swimmers are eligible to move to Platinum Elite once they have achieved 3 or more 13-14 Age Group State Qualifying Times.

 

​​Elite (Elite Training Group)

Focus: ​High School group, high level training for athletes who have committed to the sport of swimming. This is a performance-based group where athletes are asked to meet the following standards:

- 75% Attendance Rate.*

​- 3 Travel and 1 Local Meet per season.

- Attend all prelim/finals sessions qualified for.

- Attend all days qualified at the State Meet.

- Attend all days qualified at the Speedo Sectionals/Futures Meet.

Practice: ​6 practices offered per week, with an additional 2 morning practices.

Required Equipment:​​ ​Kickboard, Pull Buoy, Paddles, Fins, Snorkel and drag suit.

Cost: $130 monthly

Eligible if: Swimmers are eligible to move to Elite once they have achieved 3 or more Senior State Qualifying Times.

 

​​Diamond (Elite Training Group)

Focus: ​High School/College group, high level training for athletes who have committed to the sport of swimming and want to excel at the next level. This is a performance-based group where athletes are asked to meet the following standards:

- 80% Attendance Rate.

​- 4 Travel and 1 Local Meet per season.

- dryland and morning practices required

- Attend all prelim/finals sessions qualified for.

- Attend all days qualified at the State Meet.

- Attend all days qualified at National Meets.

Practice: ​6 practices offered per week, with an additional 2 morning practices.

Required Equipment:​​ ​Kickboard, Pull Buoy, Paddles, Fins, Snorkel and drag suit.

Cost: $130 monthly

Eligible if: Swimmer are eligible to move to Diamond once they have achieved Speedo Sectional/Futures Qualifying Times and have attended these meets.

*For athletes who participate in multiple sports, the attendance requirement will be waived while an athlete is in-season for a school sponsored sport.

All group placements and move-ups are at the discretion of the PSC Coaching Staff. Coaches need to be confident athletes will be successful in the next group. We want to ensure our swimmers are training in an appropriate and healthy environment based upon their attitude, maturity, skill set, work ethic, and commitment level.
