Woodbury Waves is an Irvine Swim League team located in the community of Woodbury. Our team offers high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for swimmers 5-18 years old. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability.

General Information
Thank you for your interest in the Woodbury Waves Swim Team. As a member of the team, your child will learn how to compete safely, with proper technique and build self-esteem through their performance. This is an opportunity to let your child enjoy the sport of swimming while making friends that will last a lifetime!
About the Irvine Swim League:
The Irvine Swim league (ISL) hosts 21 member teams to include neighborhood team and city-wide teams. The philosophy and mission of the ISL is to promote the community experience through a formal ongoing organization with an emphasis on water safety, stroke instruction, and individual improvement. The league starts with practices at the beginning of June and ends with the ISL Championship meet in August.
Eligibility:
Every ISL team is comprised of 130 swimmers. With so much interest in our team, new registration is limited to members of the Woodbury Homeowners Association only (not including Woodbury East). Families outside of the Woodbury Homeowners Association can take a look at the Irvine Swim League website for contact information for nearby communities or for city-wide teams such as the North Irvine Knights or the Heritage Park Seals. Families must meet our residency requirement to join the team. In addition, the potential swimmer must be between the ages of 5 and 18 (5 years old by June 1 and no older than 18 years on June 1) to be eligible to participate. A copy of the child's birth certificate might be required for proof of age. There is an expectation for all enrolled swimmers to be able to swim two pool lengths unaided. The objective of the swim team is not to teach swimming but instead to teach the techniques of competitive swimming. Club swimmers must detach from their swim club (e.g., NOVA, Speed Aquatics, etc.) for their first year of ISL swimming. If a swimmer moves ISL teams, they must detach again for their first year on the new ISL team. Upon registration, you must alert the Registrar that your swimmer is a club swimmer. Failure to do so could negatively impact your membership on the team.
Fees:
The Waves registration fee is $360 for the first swimmer and $335 for each additional sibling. There's also an ISL registration fee in the amount of $60. Only Credit Card Payments are accepted.
Please note that there is a 2.95% additional charge plus $0.30 per transaction fee for credit card processing.
How To Join:
Returning families have priority for registration. After returning families registeration, available spots will first be open to prior year waitlisted swimmers, then current year interest list swimmers based on the order complete qualification form and documents are received.
New families must qualify using the qualification-form. This form can be found in the Interest List tab. Please follow the directions on the qualification form.
Refund Policy:
In the event, after sign-ups, your child does not wish to continue with the Waves Swim Team or other circumstances arise, you are entitled to the following team registration refund until April 30, 2025 (please note that swimsuits are non refundable nor exchangeable): the full amount less a $10 processing fee per swimmer. On or After May 1, 2025, no team registration refunds will be issued. ISL registration fees of $60 can be refunded until May 31, 2025. On or after May 31, 2025, the ISL registration fee of $60 will not be refunded.
Practice Times:
All practices will be held at the Woodbury Competition Pool located at the Recreation Center at 108 Lamplighter. Days and times: Mon - Thurs: 3:30-5:00 pm ages 9 and up; 5:00-6:00 pm ages 8 and under. No practice on Fridays. In an effort to optimize the practices, the coaches may adjust the practice times.
