REMINDER!! The annual PAWW Swim-a-thon is being held this Sunday during practice at Central.
Our goal this season is to have 100% participation from our swimmers and their families.
I wanted to share with you why we have the swim-a-thon and why it is so important for PAWW. In 2014, PAWW began leasing Central Pool from the Peoria Park District. As a result, we inherited to costs associated with running Central Pool. This includes but is not limited to electricity, water, chemicals, facility maintanence, facility upkeep, pool repairs, and countless other costs.
The Swim-a-thon is our biggest fundraiser of the year. If we do not make our goal of $20,000, it'll be very hard for PAWW to have long term success. By long term success, I am talking about sustaining PAWW for the rest of your swimmer's career here, and for future generations. As I was a former PAWW swimmer and have had both of my daughters swim for PAWW, I understand firsthand how important it is to have this opportunity for all Peoria area swimmers. I would like to have PAWW still be successful when my grandkids are of age to join. We cannot do that without your help.
We currently have 167 swimmers on our team. If we could have each swimmer raise $100.00, that's $16,700, very close to our goal of $20,000.
There are PAWW prizes for hitting $150 and $300 of donations, and USA Swimming prizes for $400 donations and up.
As an added bonus, to make this swim-a-thon a little more special, whichever swimmer raises the most money will have an opportunity to give Coach Derek a set of their choosing and Coach Derek would have to swim it. 2nd place finisher would do the same for Coach Chance, 3rd place finisher would get to do the same for Coach Katie, 4th place finisher would give a set for Ashton to swim, and the 5th place would be able to give a set to Coach Parker to swim. That sounds like a lot of fun for the top 5 donation collectors and a whole lot of pain for the coaches.
Please make an effort to support PAWW by donating to our swim-a-thon.
Bagels and juice will be provided to the swimmers this Sunday.
