Appropriate Cold Weather Dressing for practices going forward
As the weather is getting pretty cold, the coaching staff is asking for all our athletes in all our groups to start dressing appropriately for the weather. Going forward, when the temperature gets to 50 degrees or less, we need to have our athletes dress in the following attire:
Stocking cap or hood
Coat and/or long sleeved sweatshirt
Socks
Shoes (slides and Crocs without socks is not acceptable)
Pants/sweats/something that covers the whole leg.
When it goes below freezing (32 degrees), you will need all of that in addition to gloves and scarves.
This is a requirement going forward. Coaches will be monitoring to make sure you are dressed appropriately.
If this is not being followed by an athlete(s), we will keep that athlete out of practice.
This requirement is for the health and safety of our athletes and the rest of the athletes and observers coming into and out of the pool. I have heard people say that there is no proof that being out in the cold while wet will get you sick. While that may be true, I believe in preventative maintanence. When you are soaking wet and your immune system is weaker due to stress on the body from swim practice, you have a greater chance of getting sick.
Thanks to everyone
