SWIMS 3.0 UPDATE

With SWIMS 3.0 replacing DeckPass, the process of becoming an official and meeting all of the requirements is in flux.  It's unclear when the courses, such as Athlete Protection Training, will be come available in SWIMS 3.0.  As soon as we know what the process looks like, the instructions below will be updated.

For your USA Swimming Non-Athlete membership, we'll apply a credit to your Team Unify account for it once we verify that you're a Certified Official.  Please email Nonie at [email protected] to request the credit.

Thanks,
Lakeside Swim Team

Lakeside Policies

  • Parents who are “Certified Officials” are expected to work their positions at meets. The Lakeside Swim Team reserves the right to request a certified parent to work in their certified position if needed at a swim meet.

  • It is the obligation of at least one Parent from each family to be certified by USA Swimming; Kentucky Swimming and/or the Team in one of the following positions within two years of the Swimmer’s becoming a member of the Team.

    • These certified positions include: Stroke & Turn Judge, Starter, Referee, Entry Chair, Electronic Timer Operator, Computer Operator, Announcer, Head Timer and Equipment.

  • The Team will pay the USA Swimming Parent(s) (Non-Athlete) fee when the Parent(s) becomes USA Swimming Certified. All Parents are required to become certified as a Timer when a Swimmer joins the Team.

  • Appropriate professional attire is expected of those acting as a USA Swimming official (Stroke & Turn Judge, Chief Judge, Starter, Referee). These officials are to wear white tops, khaki bottoms, and white shoes at all times.

  • As an official, one should wear a USA Swimming official badge. No team affiliation shirts or caps should be worn.

NOTE: FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION FOR NON-CERTIFICATION: Strictly enforced

  • If NO Parent(s) becomes certified in one of the certified positions within the 2-year time limit, a fine totaling $50 will be assessed and payable at the first swim meet after the 2 year expiration.
  • If the Parent fails to become certified at subsequent swim meets, the fine will double for each subsequent swim meet, up to a maximum fine per swim meet of $200

Please let me know if you have any questions.  I look forward to seeing you on deck soon!
