Kevin Ryan Head Coach, ASCA Level 3

Kevin was hired in August of 2019 and is in his 5th season as the Head Coach of the Sailfish, where his has been named 3x KYLSC Age Group Coach of the Year (2021, 2022, 2024), though that honor is shared with his wonderful assistants, who work with all practice groups.  The Sailfish has seen phenomenal growth in his tenure, both in team size and points scored at KYLSC Championship meets, where they finished 4th overall in 2024 in total points scored. Kevin has also served as the Kentucky Open Water Zones Team coach from 2015-Present and as the Meet Director for the KYLSC Open Water meet (and Sailfish as host team) from 2021-2024 and Meet Director for the 2024 Southern Zone Open Water Championship.  He was a Kentucky Select Camp coach in 2019.  He served two terms (2021-2024) as the Coaches' Rep on the KYLSC Governance Board.

Prior to joining the Sailfish, Kevin started the Transylvania University women's triathlon team, an NCAA Women's Emerging Sport, and coached the Pioneers to 2nd and 13th place individual finishes at the 2018 Collegiate National Championships. Kevin was the head assistant coach at Kentucky Aquatics from 2015-2018 where he was the strength/dryland lead coach and responsible for the 12&Under swim groups.  He was also a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Kentucky men's and women's teams in the 2017-2018 season.  Athletically, Coach Kevin was a 4-year varsity letter winner at the University of Kentucky (2006-2010) and was a professional triathlete from 2012-2022. He grew up swimming for the Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA Tigersharks in Cincinnati, OH under Coach Mike Leonard. He is married to Callie Snowden of Winchester, KY and they live in Lexington, KY.

Morgan Pelfrey Winchester- Senior Assistant

Coach Morgan started coaching for SWSF in the Spring of 2019 and is returning to the Swimchester Sailfish for another amazing season! Morgan teaches 4th at Northview Elementary in Montgomery County. She has been the assistant coach for the Montgomery County HS swim team since 2017.  She spent her high school and college summers teaching swim lessons and lifeguarding at the Winchester YMCA.  As an athlete, Morgan started swimming year round in 2nd grade at Wildcat Aquatics and finished through her junior year there before going to swim for Colonel Aquatics in Richmond her senior year. Morgan was also on the GRC swim team starting in 7th grade through her senior year.   Morgan was born and raised in Winchester where she and her husband, Darrell, and their daughter, Leah continue to reside.

Jayna Singleton Berea- Head Site Coach
Jayna is a recent graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security, and she's currently completing my graduate degree in Forensic Psychology, which she’ll finish in December of '24. Her career in swimming began at the age of 5 and continued through the age of 19. Her USA team, the Lake Cumberland Hurricanes, fostered a love within her for the sport, healthy competition, dedication, and community. Her other teams, the Cedar Rapids Dolphins and the Telford Piranhas were also key in developing who I am today! Jayna spent three years helping coach Cedar Rapids Dolphins, where she enjoyed nurturing the team's development and sharing her love for the sport. It was during this time that she discovered her love of coaching.  She's excited to grow the sport of swimming in this part of southern Kentucky where year-round swimming has been absent.
Austin Bellamy Junior Sailfish Lead
Coach Austin is in her 6th year with the Sailfish.  Austin can also be found leading the Junior Sailfish and coordinating the Learn to Swim Program at Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation, as well as at the Winchester Country Club as an assistant coach. She is a certified Red Cross WSI, ASCA Level 2 Coach, Level 1 certified Adapted Aquatics Instructor with Swim Angelfish and a site supervisor for Swim America. She loves educating swimmers on proper technique and cheering loudly as they race in the water. Her previous coaching experiences include LFUCG, Dunbar, Beaumont Y, LCA and GRC. As an athlete, Austin swam for Wildcat Aquatics and Signature Club in Lexington, KY. She currently resides in Winchester with her husband, Robert, and their 4 children.
Meredith Howes Winchester- Gold Lead

Meredith started coaching for SWSF in the Fall of 2019! Through the years, Meredith has worked primarily with bronze and silver swimmers. She started swimming with Wildcat Aquatics in Lexington in kindergarten and stayed there until high school. Throughout the summers in high school and all through college, Meredith lifeguarded and taught swim lessons throughout Winchester and Lexington. She served as the aquatics coordinator for the American Red Cross for a summer before graduating from the University of Kentucky in 2006.  After college, Meredith married her husband Chris. They have 2 children, Elise and Everett. She completed graduate school at University of Kentucky in 2010. She has worked in contracting for the Department of Defense since 2010.

William Lorenz Winchester- Bronze/Silver Lead
Bill Lorenz joined the Sailfish coaching staff in February of 2023. Bill started swimming competitively at age 8 and swam for two years at Montgomery College, reaching the Junior College Nationals in 1975. Bill has competed in triathlons, biathlons, marathons, bike races and US Masters Swimming. In High School and College, Bill was a lifeguard, coached summer swim teams, managed swimming pools, and coached one year for a year around swim team. Bill and his wife Kathy have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. Their three daughters competed for the Baranof Barracudas Swim Team in Sitka, Alaska. Bill has a BS Degree in Wildlife Sciences from Utah State University, and a MS Degree in Fisheries Biology from University of Alaska – Fairbanks. After a 38-year career with the US Forest Service, Bill retired as the Forest Supervisor of the Daniel Boone National Forest.
Alicia Henderson Berea- Assistant Coach
Alicia Henderson is joining the Swimchester Sailfish staff in 2024. She will begin her 9th year coaching Madison Central Swim Team in Richmond. She also serves as the head coach of Richmond Riptides during the summer. Alicia grew up swimming in Ohio and Pennsylvania competing as a high school and club swimmer. She continued her swimming and education at Michigan State University after high school. Coach Alicia is a graduate of Michigan State University with degrees in Kinesiology and Psychology. Alicia also studied the art of coaching at MSU and holds a minor specialization in Coaching. In addition, she obtained a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from EKU and a Masters in Education from Georgetown College. Coach Alicia teaches 8th grade at Caudill Middle School and lives in Richmond with her family.
