Good morning Five Star swimmers and families! Please see below for this week’s news.

If you did not attend the holiday breakfast on Saturday morning, please pick up your team shirt at practice this week. Coach would like everyone to wear these shirts at the John Apple meet. 

Updates from Coach Steve

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  The next month is going to be very busy with meets and practices. Consistency in practice is important for success as we enter the second half of the season. Please have your swimmer attend as many practices as possible.   I understand some play other sports, but it is important for your swimming teammates to see you at practice working hard. 

 

1. Consistency in practice (attendance and effort) pays off at the meets and helps build a team culture.
2. Please have swimmers at practice 10 minutes before the start of practice.
3. Label all swim items
4. Swimmers need to clean their water bottles
5. Missing something?  Stop by the bench at the end of the pool today or tomorrow to collect your lost items.
6. Start to look ahead at the championship meets.  Some have been updated with
entry files and information.  

 

John Apple- Meet Volunteers Needed!

We are still in need of many volunteers for the John Apple Meet on January 10-11th. Please sign up for an open position via the Team Unify site. Sign-ups are located under the “Jobs Sign-up” Tab.

Reminder that we require all families volunteer for at least one shift. If you are new to the team, we will help train you that day so please don't hesitate to sign up - this is an all hands on deck (literally!) event. 

The following volunteer positions are still open: 

• Admissions Table (Sunday)
• Back U- Timer (Sunday)
• Timer (Sunday)
• Safety Monitor (Saturday)

FIP Merchandise

Clothing orders from FIP have arrived. They can be picked up during practice. 

A few items are on backorder, but are expected to arrive soon. If you order is impacted, there will be a note included in your order with your receipt. We will provide updates once we have a confirmed arrival date for the backordered items. 

 

Caps

If you ordered a customized cap those have arrived and are available for pickup during practice!

• Five Star Caps for sale! The caps include our new logo. $15/cap. 
• If you ordered a personalized cap from T&T Swimming, the order should be arriving soon. We will send an email when they are ready for pick up.

Please see the practice schedule for winter break below. Also, please note the high school meets that will change our practice times.  

All Evening Practices will remain the same unless listed below.  

The following practices are in addition to the normal schedule.

• December 29th - Senior Team and 4 Star 10:00-11:30. Evening - Normal Practices
• December 30th - Normal practice times
• December 31st - Senior Team and 4 Star 8:00-11:00 - No evening Practices
• January 1st - No Practice - Happy New Year!
• January 2nd - Senior Team and 4 Star 10:00-11:30 and 4:30-6:00. Normal practice 1-3*
• January 3rd - Normal Practice Times

 

High School Meet Days - Modified Practices 

• Thursday, January 15- Senior 4:30-6:00, 4 Star 5:45-7:00, 3 Star 6:00-7:00

4 Star: M-Th 5:45-7:15; Saturday 8:00-10:00 a.m.

Senior Team: M-Th 4:30-6:15; Friday 4:30-6:00; Saturday 8:00-10:00
