A GA varsity swimmer for four years, Matt was a member of two Easterns Championship teams (2005 and 2006). As a senior, he was Easterns champion in the 200 IM and qualified for senior nationals in that event. He also placed second in the 500 and was part of GAʼs winning 200 freestyle relay team. Matt was a nine-time All-American and two-time winner of the Louis B. Spealer MVP award.

Matt went on to swim at Penn State University, specializing in the 200 butterfly and IM events. He currently has the tenth fastest 400 IM time in Penn State history. He posted a World Championship trial qualifying time in that event.

Matt has Level 2 American Swim Coach Association certification. He graduated from Penn State with a B.S. in. Kinesiology. Recently, he earned a M.Ed. in Education and Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on positive coaching from the University of Missouri.

Since Matt assumed the role of GAACʼs Head Age Group Coach in 2015, two of his athletes have been ranked in the top ten in the country, and one has qualified for Olympic trials. GAAC swimmers have won dozens of events at JO’s, broken 6 JO records, and broken 2 middle atlantic records.

Coach Lou Williams comes to GAAC with over a decade of coaching experience in

Southeastern PA at the club, high school, and summer league levels. Most recently, Lou

served as the Aquatics Director and Head Coach of the Souderton Area High School

swim program, where he led both boys’ and girls’ teams to a combined 102-44-2 dual

meet record. During that time, he has occupied the head coaching role for both the

SACAC Seahawks (SAL and USA Swimming) and the Souderton Dolphins (Bux-Mont

League).
 

A leader in the broader swimming community, Lou currently serves on the Middle

Atlantic Age Group Committee, is the Head Coach for the MA Age Group Long Course

Zone Team and assists with the MA Tri-State Cup Team. His coaching résumé includes

multiple Eastern Zone Age Group Champions, eighteen college-bound swimmers, and

two Pennsylvania HS Swim Coaches’ Association AAA High School Coach of the Year

nominations.
 

Lou's roots in the sport run deep. A YMCA National Swimming qualifier in his youth,

he began coaching, at the age of 14, alongside his mother for their summer league team

in Central PA. He continued coaching during college at the Bloomsburg Area YMCA

and Central Columbia High School while captaining the men’s soccer team at

Bloomsburg University. He studied Mass Communication/Journalism while at

Bloomsburg and worked as a sportswriter in the Suburban Philadelphia area after

college.
 

Beyond swimming, Lou is a passionate advocate for physical fitness. He is a Certified

CrossFit Level 3 Trainer (CF-L3) and teaches group classes at CrossFit MXL in Telford.

An outdoor enthusiast, Lou enjoys spending time with his family at the Shore or on the

trails and lakes around the region.

Coach Karen brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role at Germantown Academy Aquatic Club. Karen’s competitive journey began at St. Hubert’s High School and continued through her collegiate career at LaSalle University.

Karen’s coaching career spans over two decades, highlighted by 20 years as head coach of the Cheltenham Aquatic Club and 11 years as head coach for both the boys and girls swim teams at Cheltenham High School. For the past seven years at GAAC, she has served as head coach for the Exploration group and assistant coach for the Senior group, while also supporting athletes across all age groups.

Coach Caitlin started her competitive swim career at 9 years old. She swam for Upper Main Line YMCA and Villa Maria Academy High School during her club and high school swim years.
She is a 2024 graduate of West Chester University where she earned her B.S. in Pharmaceutical Product Development, and also was a four year member and Captain of the women’s swim team. She then went on to earn her M.S. in Management from Lehigh University where she served as an assistant coach for their men’s and women’s swim team.
Caitlin also has experience teaching swim lessons through the Little Bears program at Ursinus as well as private swim lessons. Currently, Caitlin is pursing her MBA through Villanova University and in her spare time, she enjoys listening to country music, going to concerts, and working out. 

Siena "CC" Leoni

Bleeding red, black, and blue, CC Leoni has swam for GAAC since she was 9 years old. In her high school swimming career, CC was a part of an exceptional Germantown Academy varsity swim team, winning Inter-AC and Eastern titles three years in a row. CC was captain and made All Inter-Ac First team her senior year. CC went off to swim for Loyola University of Maryland her freshman year specializing in the 500, 1000, and 1650 free as well as the 400 IM. For the end of her season, CC competed at the Patriot League Championship at Bucknell University, scoring in the 1650. CC decided to return home after her freshman year to continue training with GAAC, while simultaneously attending Montgomery Community College and growing her small business, Swim Culture. CC has a fresh and young approach to coaching and enjoys connecting with young swimmers. In her free time CC loves spending time with her family, listening to music, and going to pilates.
