Mackenzie Alexiuk
Program Coordinator- Mini Marlins
[email protected]
Mackenzie Alexiuk has been with the Manitoba Marlins since 2004, when she joined the club as a Mini Marlin. She swam competitively until 2013 when she shifted her role from swimmer to coach. Since then, she has coached for the minis program and Age Group Development for four years each. Now in her 11th year of coaching, Mackenzie is excited to support the Mini Marlins program and inspire the next generation of swimmers to grow as athletes and people through learning in the pool. Mackenzie spends her time away from the pool pursuing the Master of Physician Assistant Studies program at the University of Manitoba.
Mackenzie returns to our staff for this season with a new role, she will be working directly with Cam, Luc, and our Mini coaches on program delivery. She will be around to answer any questions around skills and teaching that our coaches may have, and assist them in delivering our practices in an effective and fun manner!

Denis Moyseyenko
I have swum with the Marlins for seven years, from minis to multisport, and each of my coaches has inspired me to take a role in contributing to the growth and development of the minis today. This past year, I have been a volunteer coach for levels 2 and 3 and volunteered at each of the mini meets and holiday events. Since this upcoming year will be my last as a swimmer, I am very excited to become a coach and be able to stay in the Marlins swimming community.

LEVEL 2 COACHES
Mahinder Singh (Lead Coach)
I started my swim career in 2013 when I was seven years old. I was first exposed to the sport when my sister began swimming in 2012. I developed a love for the sport and started the next year. The first team I competed for was the Manitoba Marlins, and I swam for them for ten years. I pursued more mid-distance events on the Marlins, such as the 200 and 400 freestyle. As a result, I qualified to represent Team Manitoba at the Canada Games in 2022. In 2023, I joined The University of Manitoba Junior Bison swim team to take on more sprint events. Both teams have impacted my swim career, and I will forever be grateful for the amazing opportunities they provided.
Coaching on a swim team has been a dream/goal of mine throughout my years in the sport. I would like to pass on the knowledge that I have gained over the years to the new generation of swimmers to not only improve the team but also make it an enjoyable experience. If I choose to retire from swimming, I am excited to remain in the community as a coach. I strive to bring the same passion I brought to swimming to my future career as a coach.

I have been swimming with the Manitoba Marlins for seven years, working my way up from Mini Marlins Swim School to the NAT group. While volunteering with the club previously, I found that I really enjoyed helping young swimmers learn the fundamentals of swimming and progress in their skills. I am really looking forward to coaching this season with Minis Level 2 and Super Squad (dryland)! My coaching style focuses on core techniques while keeping it fun and exciting for the swimmers! I hope everyone will love swimming as much as I do, and I can’t wait to see you at the pool! Go Green Gold!!

Alexis Bru (Wednesdays)
I am Alexis, and I'm looking forward to coaching Mini's 3 this year! Last year I subbed for the Mini's levels, as well as Super Squad and Multi-sport. Two years ago, I coached Mini Marlins 1. I swam with the Marlins for 10 years, starting in Mini's 3 and ending in NAT in 2023. When I first started swimming, my favorite events were 200 breast and 200 back. My best event during my last year in NAT was 100 free. Now I have entered my second year of Mechanical Engineering with the University of Manitoba.

Nathaniel Hedges
My name is Nathaniel, and I’ll be coaching level 3 mini marlins in the upcoming 2024-2025 season. My swimming journey began years ago when I started in Mini Marlins level 1 and swam my way up the club, eventually finishing in Nat. I fell in love with coaching when helping at the Mini Marlins meets and was inspired to continue. Swimming has been a huge part of my life growing up, and I’m looking forward to sharing that with future generations of swimmers!
