TOP AGE GROUP (TAG)
Swimmers in this group have a high level of competitive swimming experience, as well as a commitment to the sport. Endurance, speed, conditioning and stroke refinement are emphasized. In addition, race strategy, competitive skills, goal setting and an understanding of time standards are emphasized. Swimmers are expected to have a high attendance percentage and are chosen for this group based on their maturity, technique, endurance, and race performance.

Group Objectives and Focus
- Swimmers continue to maintain high skill levels while developing their aerobic capacity and endurance
- Individualization of fitness and technical training is initiated
- Emphasis is on maintaining technique under high volume and low intensity in all four competitive strokes (i.e. IM based philosophy, no stroke specialization)
- Competitions are used to learn and employ basic race strategies, tactics and mental preparation
- Build and continue the use of body-weight exercises in dryland
- Development of strength (weight with resistance)
- Protocol for pre-competition, competition and post-competition routines are to be established at this level.

Parent Expectations
All parents are expected to attend the annual general meeting held in November, and parent-coach meetings (dates to be announced).
Parents are also expected to volunteer in various capacities. There are many volunteer opportunities available. For more detailed information regarding volunteering, see the Volunteering section of this website. The following is a volunteer guide for parents in TAG.

Apparel and Equipment Requirements
Apparel Requirements at Practice
- Running shoes (no deck shoes)
- Marlin t-shirt
- Athletic shorts
- Goggles
- Training suit (must be black with green piping or have a green pattern primarily)
- Marlin's cap *All swimmers must wear a Marlin cap at practice.
Apparel Requirements at Meets
- Team Attire = any attire which bears the MM logo (i.e. Team sweats, t-shirts, towels, shorts, tracksuits etc.)
- Running shoes or deck shoes (preferably running shoes)
- Goggles
- Racing suit (must be black, green or a combination of both colours). Nothing below the knees for males and females. Nothing above the waist for males. Nothing past the shoulders for females.
- Marlin's cap *All swimmers must wear a Green Marlin cap at meets.
