Overlea Fullerton Recreation Cheer Team – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

GENERAL INFORMATION

Q: What is a recreation cheer team?
A: A recreation cheer team is a cheerleading program that focuses on learning cheer fundamentals, building teamwork, and performing youth sports games, our showcase and 1-2 competitions. It's great for beginners or those interested in cheer without the time or cost of competitive cheer.

Q: What age groups are eligible to join?
A: Our program is open to athletes ages 3-14. Teams will be divided by age. Our goal is to have a prep team, 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U but groupings will vary year to year based on registration.

Athletes 3-4 years old will start in our prep program. Their practices tend to be shorter and they will only perform at our showcase.

Q: Do athletes need prior cheer experience?
A: No experience is necessary! Our program is designed to teach athletes the basics of cheerleading in a fun, supportive environment.
