Jerah Flynn (Head Coach):
I swam competitively from 1st – 6th grades with the Faribault Swim Club, 7th-12th grade with the Faribault High School team & at St. John’s University my freshman year of college. I had to hang up my goggles due to a shoulder injury otherwise I would have kept going! I was a 200 IM/freestyle & 500 freestyle swimmer in high school & started with the 1000 & 1650 at college. In addition I did some lifeguarding during college and coached four years for the Atlantis Swim Club in Faribault before starting up the Piranhas in 2019. What brought me back to the sport is getting my kids interested in the sport since half of our state is covered in water. I love all sports and have done a lot of youth coaching in other sports as well. Owatonna NEEDS a youth swim program in this town and I am very excited to be a part of it.
Christina Spencer (Coach):
Wife and homeschooling mother of two. She strives to instill a love for lifelong sports in her daughters and enjoys swimming, running, hiking and biking with them. She is excited to start coaching for the Owatonna Swim Club. She swam competitively for the Roseau High School swim team. A love for swimming and teaching led her to become a lifeguard and water safety instructor in high school. The Red Cross Learn-to-Swim levels 4-6 were her favorite to teach, as they began working on refining strokes and teaching swimming for fitness. She continued to teach swim lessons, lifeguard training, and became the manager of the Aquatic Program at the University of MN Duluth. Graduating with a degree in Art Education K-12, she has continued teaching in the Owatonna community for a variety of organizations: daycares, community education, homeschool groups, scouts, and the Owatonna Arts Center. She is excited to bring her love for swimming and years of teaching experience to the Owatonna Swim Club!
Tara Lammers (Coach):
My swim experience started with Faribault Stingrays for a little while before I came to my senses and joined Owatonna Piranhas. (Just a rivalry joke — they are great) I joined Owatonna Piranhas in 3rd grade and swam with them through 11th. I joined the OHS team in 7th and swam for them from 7th - 12th grade. I was a vounteer coach for the OHS Girls team for 4 years and have been assistant coaching the OHS Boys team for the last 7 years. I have also been a lifeguard since 2009 and a swimming lesson instructor since 2010. Since I cannot get enough pool time, you may see me at the Owatonna Country Club as the pool coordinator again this summer. I love being able to show new swimmers all that swimming has to offer them and see them develop the same passion I had in the sport. When I’m not at a pool, I also teach special education at OHS and enjoy spending time with family and friends.
