Lead Coach (Senior, Senior Elite, Age-Group Elite, Black)
Terri swam competitively for 10 years (ages 7-17) for the Beaver Dam Swim Team in her hometown of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin . She qualified for State Championships in the Breaststroke all 10 years. Terri has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Research and Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she did research for 2 years. Terri and her husband Mark have lived in St. Michael for 24 years. She is in her 39th season with the SDVL, has coached every level in the club, and has had numerous State Champions. She began working with the Senior, Senior Elite, and Age-Group Elite groups in the Fall of 2021 where she remains. Her favorite stroke to teach is breastrstroke and loves to watch the 100IM.
In her spare time she likes to read, watch football, and loves all things Harry Potter. Terri is a bonafide sugar addict that hates choclate.

Assistant Coach (Senior, Senior Elite, Age-Group Elite, Black)
Dave swam competitively for Maple Grove/Champlin from age 9- 18. In high school(Osseo) he qualified for State in the 100 Fly his Sophomore and Senior years. He was voted MVP his Junior Season and served as a Captain his Senior Year. Dave swam the 200 Fly and the 1650 Free for the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. He earned the Coaches Award during his Freshman Year and enjoyed competing in some of the finest pools in the country. From 1999 to 2004, Dave started coaching along side his childhood coach at MGC. While there, he had the opportunity to develop several State Champions in the 8 & U and 9-10 age groups. Dave joined the Sea Devils in 2009.
Grant Moser
Lead Coach (Minnows, Guppies)
Strength Coach
Grant currently acts as the Lead Coach for Minnows and Guppies as well as the Assistant Lead for Black, Senior, Age-Group Elite, and Senior Elite. Grant began his swimming career at age 9 on the Sea Devils. He has enjoyed experiencing every level of the club as he started in the lowest level but went on to compete at events like Zones, NCSAs, Speedo Sectionals, and Arena Grand Prix. His favorite event is 100 Butterfly but likes coaching everything, especially distance free.
Grant attended UW-Stevens Point where he qualified multiple times for NCAAs. Grant was elected Team Captain 3 years while at UWSP, was awarded the WIAC Sportmanship award his senior year, and the winner of the inaugural William Gellwicks Memorial Scholarship for aspiring young coaches while assistant coaching at the university during graduate school. In addition to his club and college coaching, Grant brings with him 10 seasons of High School Head Coaching for both Girls and Boys where he has been nominated for High School Coach of the Year in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Grant is the acting Head Coach for the Team Minnesota 14 and Under All-Star Team and has been involved with Team Minnesota as an Assistant and Head Coach for the last 3 years.
Grant has his Bachelors Degree with a majors in Math, Business Adminstration, and Accounting, a Coaching Certificate, and a Masters of Science degree in Data Science. Grant does not have much free time but enjoys working out and golfing.
Cory Forslund
Lead Coach (Yellow)
Coach Cory swam in many different capacities over the years. He saw time swimming in clubs, high school, and Masters. In the past he has coached for SDVL, high schools, and Masters. He graduated from Saint Cloud State University with a Bachelors of Education in Life Science. He has found much of his education in science helps his coaching.
He enjoys engaging with athletes and students of all ages while also creating a positive environment for all to thrive, attain their goals, and improve. Cory began coaching for SDVL in 2012, and is starting his 20th season. He has lived in Big Lake since 2020.
Jon Kemp 
Lead Coach (Red)
Coach Montana began her swimming career at the age of 9, competing for several different swim clubs including the Sea Devils. During middle school and high school, she competed for her high school swim team where she served as a captain, was a two time state competitor and broke multiple school records. After graduating from high school, Montana competed for the University of Minnesota Morris(UMM) Swim and Dive Team as a backstroker and distance freestyler. During college, Mantana also competed for the UMM track team and cross country team. While swimming for Morris, Montana broke multiple school records and was awarded the Willis Kelly Athletic award for excellent performance as a college athlete.
Montana has been coaching since 2020 when she took on the role of Head Coach for the Princeton High School Girls Swim and Dive team. She began coaching for Sea Devils shortly after in 2021. Now in her 6th year of coaching , Montana has grown to love coaching as much if not more than she loved competing.
Montana has a Bachelors degree with majors in Political Science & Studio Art, and a Masters of Arts & Teaching. She is currently in school at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design working towards her Masters of Fine Art.
Mikayla Meece
Now entering her 9th year of coaching, Mikayla is passionate about developing not only strong swimmers but confident, well-rounded individuals and enjoys supporting young athletes in reaching their potential—both in and out of the pool!
In addition to coaching, Mikayla works as a Preschool Special Education Teacher in Becker, MN.
Val Childs
Val swam with the Sea Devils for 11 years before joining as a coach in the Fall of 2024, where she primarily works with groups Red and Yellow, but can be seen working with all groups when needed. She swam for Big Lake High School from 7th-12th grade, where she competed in the 200 free, 100 fly, and relays her Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years.
Val went to the University of Sioux Falls to continue studying and swimming for 5 years. During her time at USF, she set a school record in the 50 fly, collected multiple titles at the NSIC Championships each year, and broke 2 Conference meet records in the 800 free relay her Freshman and Junior years. Val served as Team Captain her final year at USF, and qualified for NCAAs in the 100 fly, 200 free, 200 fly, and 100 free. She graduated with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Exercise Science and Psychology.
In addition to coaching with Sea Devils, Val is the Graduate Assistant Swim and Dive Coach at Concordia University, St. Paul, where she is pursuing her Master’s degree in Science of Coaching and Athletic Administration. Over the summers, she also coaches at swim camps with teams like Texas A&M and Stanford. When she’s not coaching, Val still loves being in the water and enjoys strength training. Her favorite event is the 200 free.
Drawing from her years as a competitive swimmer and her experience teaching swim lessons, Coach Tori is passionate about helping swimmers develop their skills and foster a love for the sport.
When she is not on the pool deck, Coach Tori works as a Data Visualization Analyst at the University of Minnesota Foundation. She is excited to contribute to the team’s success and is looking forward to a season of hard work and fast swimming!
