SWIM LEVELS

Sea Devils Swimming offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. Our goal is to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of their abilities.
 
All swimmers new to our club will need an in-pool assessment by one of our coaches and will be assigned to the appropriate level.  At a minimum, swimmers should be able to swim one full length on their front and one full length on their back without any floatation devices.

TADPOLES (TAD)
  • The Tadpoles group practices for 35 minutes, once a week.
  • Swimmers in this new addition to our club will work on one skill per session/practice to help them increase chances of gaining a slot into our Minnows group.
  • This group will run in 9 week increments.
  • Tadpoles will not compete in any meets.
MINNOWS (MIN)
  • The Minnows group practices for  50-60 min, 2x/week.
  • Dryland 20mins, 1x week
  • Focus on learning proper body and head position.  Introduction to circle swimming with basic drills for freestyle and backstroke. Introduction to breaststroke and butterfly.   
  • Meet competition optional..
 
GUPPIES (GUP)
  • The Guppies group practices for 50-60 min, 2-3x/week
  • Dryland 20mins, 1x week
  • Continuious focus on basic skills in freestyle, backstroke, breaststoke, butterfly, streamlines, starts, & turns. Emphasis on the necessary foundations to swim competitively.  
  • Meet participation encouraged.
 
SHARKS (SH)
  • The Sharks group practices for 60-75 min, 2-3x/week.
  • Dryland 20mins, 1-2x week
  • Introduction to interval training using the 4 competitive strokes, breathing patterns, starts, & turns. 
  • Should be competing in 1 meet per month
 
RED
  • The Red group practices 60-75 min, 3x/week
  • Dryland 30mins, 1-2x week
  • Interval training with an emphasis on meet competition. Swimmers must have mastered the basic skills of the 4 competitive strokes, streamline, starts, and turns. 
  • Should be competing in 1 meet per month
 
YELLOW (YEL)
  • The Yellow group practices  60-90 min, 3-4x/week
  • Dryland 30mins, 1-2x week
  • Continuing interval training with an emphasis on test sets. Advanced stroke technique required in all 4 competive strokes.
  • Should be competing in 1 meet per month
 
BLACK (BLK)
  • The Black group practices 75-120 minutes, 4-5 times per week 
  • Dryland 30mins, 1-2x week
  • Focus will be on mastering all aspects of technique using training sets and classroom. Swimmers should be able to finish all aspects of a 1.5-2 hour practice. 
  • Meet attendance is expected once a month.

 

SENIOR (SR)

  • The Senior group practice sessions are 90-120 minutes, 5-6 times per week.
  • Dryland as scheduled
  • Introduction to race pace and resistence training. Swimmers must exhibit a high level of workout ability and competition performance. Expected that swimmers can adequately finish a 2 hour practice.
  • Optional Meet Attendance
 
Age Group Elite (AGE)
  • The Age Group Elite group practice sessions are 90-120 minutes, 5-6 times per week
  • Dryland required as scheduled
  • Focus on advanced race strategy. Swimmers are expected to maintain a high level of workout ability and competition performance. Must have all required training equipment at every practice. For swimmers ages 11-14 by coach-invitation only.
  • Must maintain 80% practice attendance. 
  • Regular meet attendance is expected. Must compete in highest competition qualified for.

Senior Elite (SE)

  • The Senior Elite practice sessions are 90-120 minutes, 5-6 times per week 
  • Dryland required as scheduled
  • Focus on maximum performance and training. Swimmers need to exhibit a high level of workout ability and competition performance. Must have all required training equipment at every practice. For swimmers 15 and over by coach-invitation only.
  • Must maintain 80% practice attendance. 
  • Regular meet attendance is expected. Must compete in highest competition qualified for.
