Wow!! Our Marist and Washington & Lee former Hurricanes really impressed over the weekend! Ethan McCormac, Owen McCormac, Sophia Swanson and Bella Tarbet…..we are so proud of you!
MAAC Championships - Men

The relay team for the 800-yard freestyle relay won silver in the final event of day one (6:36.76). The relay team consisted of Christopher Dauser, James Conable, Ethan McCormac, and Ahmed Sallam. The time set in the 800-yard relay set a new Marist school record.

The Red Foxes relay team won silver in the 200-yard freestyle (1:19.79). The relay consisting of Christopher Dauser, Ethan McCormac, Ahmed Sallam, and Adrian Bankowski set a Marist record.

They reached the podium in the 400-yard IM relay. The team consisting of Sean Doran, Caden Hardy, Adrian Bankowski, and Ethan McCormac won bronze (3:20.15).

Ethan McCormac placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 49.20 (but his prelim time of 48.94 set a new Marist record!!)

Ethan McCormac placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.36.

Owen McCormac swam a 22.49 in the 50 free and a personal best of 48.84 in the 100 free.

MAAC Championships - Women

In the 800-yard freestyle relay final, swimmers Margaret Hartman, Melanie Nunn, Charlotte Lepis, and Sophia Swanson won bronze with a time of 7:38.30. This delivered 32 points for Marist.

The relay team consisting of Veronica Stureborg, Lucie Gray, Sophia Swanson, and Nellie Thompson placed fourth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:44.07). The relay awarded 30 points for the finish. The medley time set a new school record for Marist.

In the first event, junior Sophia Swanson took home the bronze medal in the 100-yard butterfly. Swanson finished with an impressive 56.58 time.

The Red Foxes secured bronze in the 400-yard IM relay (3:50.12). The relay consisted of Veronica Stureborg, Lucie Gray, Sophia Swanson, and Nellie Thompson.

ODAC Championships - Women
Two of the wins came in both relays that were held on the night. Junior Brynn Martinson (Charlotte, N.C. / South Mecklenburg), sophomores Myla Rice (Alexandria, Va. / T.C. Williams) and Bella Tarbet (East Hampton, N.Y. / East Hampton) and junior Sophia Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) teamed up for a win in the 200 free relay (1:35.43), with senior Sara Gaston (Mechanicsville, Va. / Mechanicsville), first-year Paige McBoyle (Short Hills, N.J. / Millburn), senior Jillian Cantrell (Harrison, Tenn. / Girls Preparatory School) and Martinson claiming the 400 medley relay (3:51.28). Both relays finished with NCAA B-cut marks.
W&L's strongest individual race of the day was in the 100 fly, as the team took each of the top three spots. Sophomore Bella Tarbet (East Hampton, N.Y. / East Hampton) followed Cantrell in second (58.28), with sophomore Myla Rice (Alexandria, Va. / T.C. Williams) touching the wall just 0.03 seconds after Tarbet.
-Bella Tarbet was alsp 5th place 200 fly (2:11.19)
The 24th-ranked Washington and Lee women's swimming clinched its second straight ODAC Championship on Saturday evening, winning four of the six events on the schedule.
Bella was also named to first yeam 15 All-ODAC team with each of her individual placings at the conference meet: 100 fly (2nd – 58.28); 200 fly (5th – 2:11.19); 50 free (7th – 24.68)
Way to go, Bella and the rest of the Generals!
Next up: Colin Harrison at F.I.T and Jack Duryea at W.P.I in their respective conference championships!
