Maryland LMSC Fall Newsletter, TCY News

The TCY Manta Rays finished their season by hosting a meet at the George Murphy Pool (a short-course meters outdoor facility) in Easton.  Although the event was not attended at full-capacity, it was enjoyed by all who came.  We hope to present it again next year, maybe earlier in the summer when family vacations are not at their peak.  It’s a great venue and the perfect start to a beach weekend.

This year the Manta Rays also opened their two weekly outdoor practices to swimmers from area tri clubs.  Coached by Messiah College junior Katie Sagasar, the team enjoyed a variety of workouts geared towards meet swimmers, open water swimmers and triathletes.

The Manta Rays will be hosting a meet in Easton during Waterfowl Festival weekend on Sunday, November 13.  Please consider staying in the area and enjoying the festival (www.waterfowlfestival.org).

Meets are not only fun, they also offer a terrific opportunity for volunteering.  There are numerous small jobs and details including securing a facility, officials, timers, touchpads and timing equipment to coordinating with facility staff to seeding swimmers, answering questions and producing heat sheets.  We can’t thank the officials, timers and lifeguards enough for their time and talent.  It is truly a team effort and we encourage everyone to take part.

Here’s a to a great 2011-2012 season!  See you at the pool!
