Photo & Video Policy

Purpose

Northwest YMCA Neptunes promotes safe and common-sense photography and video that protect the integrity and privacy of swimmers and their families. All photographs taken at Northwest YMCA Neptunes must observe generally-accepted standards of decency.

While the great majority of images are appropriate and are taken in good faith, it is a fact that images can be misused and children can be put at risk if common-sense procedures are not observed. This policy is to protect Northwest YMCA Neptunes swimmers’ decency, privacy, and integrity.

Northwest YMCA Neptunes Photography and Video Rules

  1. Action shots should be a celebration of the sporting activity and not a sexualized image in a sporting context.

  2. Action shots should not be taken or retained where the photograph or video reveals a torn or displaced swimsuit.

  3. Photographs or video should not be taken from behind swimming blocks or exhibit a child climbing into or out of the swimming pool.

  4. Photographs or videos should never be taken in locker-rooms or bathrooms.

Northwest YMCA Neptunes Photo and Video Publishing

It is understood that Coaches, employees, swim team parents, and swimmers of Northwest YMCA Neptunes do regularly photograph team members at Northwest YMCA Neptunes-hosted activities and at other team USA Swimming-related activities. These photos are often shared among team parents, swimmers, and coaches and may ultimately be used on bulletin boards, Northwest YMCA Neptunes promotional materials, or team social media pages.

In the case of open meets and other competitions where the host club has an official photographer present, all parents attending should be made aware of this in the Northwest YMCA Neptunes meet information.
