Thank you for your interest in Tsunami Swim Team of Kansas City! Our swim season runs September through August with two seasons - a short course season (September-March) and a long course season (April-August). Annual registration and program fees (per the handbook) are renewed each September.
Open Evaluations for the 2025-2026 season are taking place. Please email us at [email protected] to schedule an evaluation.
Evaluations: Tsunami Swim Team accepts swimmers for all ages onto the team throughout the year at the first of each month. Before joining our team, we ask that you come to have your swimmer evaluated for group placement and learn more about our team. This evaluation will help determine your swimmer’s correct group placement and give you an opportunity to talk to the coaches and parents of swimmers currently on the team.
Evaluation does not guarantee registration with the team - Registration with the team is finalized with confirmation email from the team after official evaluation and completing online registration.

- Swimmer’s name
- Swimmer’s age and birthdate
- Parent name
- Previous swimming experience

What to wear at evaluation? Swimmers must come to the evaluation session ready to swim. This includes:
Proper swim training attire. Baggy shorts or ’beach wear’ are not acceptable. Call or email if you are unsure what this means.
Goggles and a swim cap if the child needs one.
What to expect at evaluation? Evaluations will determine if the child is ready for organized competitive swim training. They are comprehensive and can be physically stressful. All activities are age appropriate and simulate what athletes will experience in actual workout sessions.
Why should my child swim? Tsunami Swim Team is one of the premier youth sports program in the Kansas City Metro area. There are many benefits to getting your child involved in competitive swimming, including:

Once an evaluation is completed and you know which group to register, you may ask for a registration link that directs you to our registration page.
If you are a NEW member, you must complete the following:
- Read the Team Handbook (under Team Information on website).
- Completed an official evaluation OR former swimmers may communicate with Coach Chris or Coach Tom their desire to return and will be directed appropriately. Former swimmers may not need to create a new account - contact Coach Tom for details.
- Read and sign off on each agreement during the New Member Registration Process. The team policies have been updated and with your completion of this process, you will be stating your acceptance of the terms that are presented in the documents as well as our Team Handbook.
- Medical, Authorization for Release and Code of Conduct Forms (Team Handbook & under Team Information Tab on site) must be filled out for each swimmer prior to practicing. Google form links to fill out forms will be provided.
- Senior Group coaches communicate via text & email so cell phone numbers/email for swimmers need to be updated & verified from the Member/Athlete profile page within the family account. Simply click on each swimmer's name on the family account page to access.
- Be approved via email, -- After completion of all agreements and submitting your registration fee, your account will be reviewed. You must receive approval and a login password from the website (after an evaluation) to complete team registration. Once approved, the swimmer eligible for practices as long as they are covered by USA Swimming insurance. See below.
- In addition, each new family must register with USA Swimming themselves. Once your Tsunami registration has been approved, we will send you an email with instructions on how to register with USA Swimming.
- Swimmers may not participate with the team until team and USA SWIMS 3.0 registration has been approved by the team business manager via confirmation Team Unify email. Once family has gotten email confirmation from the business manager, they may attend practices. If families have not gotten communication after team registration, we ask they reach out to [email protected] prior to attending practice.
Payment is all done online and will need to be set up at the time of registration. All billing is done on the first of every month and can be Only paid by credit card or bank draft.
Swimmers may not participate with the team until team and USA SWIMS 3.0 registration has been approved by the team business manager via confirmation Team Unify email. Once family has gotten confirmation from the business manager, they may attend practices. If families have not gotten communication after team registration, we ask they reach out to [email protected] prior to attending practice.
