Post Race Talks with Coach
POST RACE TALKS WITH COACH
After each race it is vital that your swimmer consult with a coach about the swim. It allows us to communicate (feedback/educate) our feelings about the race, put together a plan for practice, and sometimes talk about our next event. After each swim speaking with coach should be the at the top of for both coach and swimmer, we may have some notes on the race, and it is the perfect opportunity to communicate while the swimmer is still putting together an idea of how the race actually went. Sometimes races can feel really good but in actuality, end up one of our worst swims for that season. It is important that the coaches get to talk to them immediately following the race.
Sometimes, it is not possible to talk to a coach immediately after a race. During a meet we often get pulled in a bunch of different directions to make sure we are watching swims, organizing kids, talking to other swimmers about their races, or maybe we stepped away for a quick snack or sip of water. We ask that if this is the case then have your swimmer grab us at the first opportune moment, or wait patiently until we can give your swimmer our undivided attention. Make sure that you remind the kids to talk to coach first to ensure that they are getting the most of their meet experiences.
