It all started in the early 50s with the competitive team at the Westfield YMCA - The team became successful and won Western Mass titles as early as 1955!

The Late Jean Cole (the current competition pool is named after Coach Cole) took over in the mid-60s the team called the "Whips" and sported green & white as their team colors. They practiced and competed in the 20 yard, 4-lane pool which still is in use for swim lessons today!

The 80s saw The Late Joan Fox take the helm of the "Whips" which later became the Westfield Wave.

2005 Coach Jamie Bloom started her 10+ year tenure as the Head Coach of the Wave.

2019 Kyle Murphy took charge of the team during the "Covid Years"....the only time in 50+ years the team did not practice and compete. Despite the pandemic, the Wave continued to grow and rebuild!

2024 brings a new season and a new chapter in Wave history with our newest full time head coach, Luis Galvan!
