Meet Wrap Up: Black V Purple Meet

Erin Jeffers

Storm spirit was in full force the weekend of October 26 as we wrapped up the Black V Purple week with our intrasquad meet!  Congratulations to the Purple Team, who won the meet by 34 points!  Great work swimmers and coaches!

Again this year, our National Team members were assigned as Captains.   These young men and women drafted the teams, helped out at HYPE practices and did an amazing job assistant coaching the 12 and under session as well as providing leadership and fast swims in the 13 and over session.  Congratulations and thank you to  Keara, Thatcher, and Izzie from Team Purple and Caitrin, Riley and Haven from Team Black  for their hard work both at the meet and in the weeks leading up to the competition!

Hosting a meet requires a lot of parent support, and we want to thank ALL parents for volunteering at the meet, supporting the team breakfast, and helping us with set up cleanup at the end of the meet Sunday.  We would like to give an extra shout out to Mr. Picone, Mr. Wilson, Mrs Guothro, Mr. Yeaton, Mr. Helmer, Mrs. and Mrs. Ferguson, Mrs. Sementa and Mrs. Dufour:

Our Captains wanted to give the following shout-outs to teammates that they saw going above and beyond over the course of the meet:

From the purple team captains:

  • 12 under Conor M. (lightning): Conor had huge drops in all of his swims and was doing a great job of showing his purple team spirit the whole session
  • 13 and over, Kyle D (senior): Kyle tackled a tough race and made sure to cheer for all of his teammates in every heat

From the black team captains:

  • 12 and under Nikan A. (lightning):  was really excited for all of his races even when he had to race alone and just had a lot of positive energy.
  • 13 and over Jack B (senior) had good sportsmanship and swam very well this weekend
