Our very own Emily Thompson has been selected to the prestigious USA Swimming National Select Camp!   The camp will take place at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, CA from October 7th through October 10th.  

According to USA Swimming, the National Select Camp is "designed for the top USA Swimming member athletes in the nation to have a once-in-a-lifetime camp experience. Swimmers are selected from the SWIMS database of top times.  During the camp, these swimmers will learn about post race recovery, drug and supplement rules, psychological training skills, nutrition, race strategy and more."

There is a rigorous selection process to qualify for the National Select Camp, with only 51 female athletes and 51 male athletes making the roster:

  • The fastest three athletes from each competition category in each LCM Olympic pool event (for a total of 42 male and 42 female athletes);
  • The top 6 athletes based on combined performance across the LCM 2019 and LCM 2020 IMX seasons; and
  • The top 3 athletes based on results from the 2021 USA Swimming Open Water Junior Nationals.

Emily joins the camp as a result of her stellar IMX performance.
